Things to do on the Isle of Skye - not a question

I looked up www.isleofskye.travel.com and here are their suggestions:

Things to do on Skye.

The Isle of Skye has a variety of things to do and see.

Sightseeing boat trips enabling you to view the wildlife Skye has to offer.
Kayaking is also a possibility on the beautiful lochs.

Pony trekking along the beautiful coastline of the Isle of Skye .

Mountain Climbing and Hiking you can hire guides to take you into the heart of the Cuillins.

We even have paintballing on the Isle of Skye for the more adventurous of you.

You can also hire motorbikes to tour the island which is a fabulous way to see Skye.

Plus a whole lot more .

That is it. You are promoting paintballing as an attraction on the Isle of Skye? You don’t dwell on the beauty, the local history, or the Community?

I will cry in my cup of tea.

Plus a whole lot more.

That appears to be a one-man-band website, set up by someone with limited website skills who’s persuaded a couple of people he knows to include their B&Bs. So it’s never going to be particularly amazing. I doubt it gets more than a handful of a hits a month.

(For example, they list a grand total of one hotel on their list of places to stay.)

The official Skye tourist site has lots more to offer:

Seems like the traffic from the SDMB has brought it down too.

Nah, duff link in the OP.

Heh, advertising B&Bs on Skye seems like a pointless exercise, literally every other house is a B&B. Driving into Portree last year the first 11 houses were B&Bs, then i stopped counting. Beautiful place though.

Even as hyperbole this is way over the top. Did it cross your mind that they might not just be trying to attract people from different continents? The paintball company will also be catering for people who live in Skye or within a few hours’ driving distance (who are well acquainted with the beauty of Skye). Those other Highlanders understand Skye’s “local history” and “the Community” on a much deeper level than you or most non Highlanders ever will. They don’t need to be expected to solemnly consider all that stuff when they just want something fun to do at the weekend.

Also, the weather in Skye is horrendous much of the time. I went there to climb some mountains last year, but we had to abandon all our plans as we’d have been risking death if we’d gone up to the Cuillin ridge in the gales that were blowing. Skye and similar places need fun activities that can be done during weeks like that in order to avoid laying people off from the tourist industry.

Anyway, the home page of the website says “The island is one of the most beautiful in the world but don’t take my word for it come and see for yourself.”

What are you complaining about?
