I see how you are, trying to be all sneaky like. But I know your game, because as a kid, they tried to pawn Poke Salad off on me. Nu-huh, not gonna happen. I can those things peeking out no matter how subtle they try to appear. Smell the little boogers too. I’m almost, but not quite, wary of peanuts too, just by association. They don’t make any wines with them in it, do they?
However, you can kill 'em and throw their shell of a body onto the floor and crush into oblivion. No, I’m not obsessed. Why ever would you think that?
I’ve tried some other message boards; this really is a good one, if you want discussions that occasionally rise above teenage boy fart jokes and flirting, and have some affinity for people who can spell and use words and grammar properly.
True enough. I’ve been on over- and under- moderated boards, as well as ones with giant avatars and rows of jumping smileys (never seen the Bouncing Testicles yet).
However, as for me, since the whole Aldebaran thing, I’ve felt kind of alienated. He was a dissembler of major proportions and got under my skin; I told him and everyone else why and how that happened, and how I was trying to get the basic truth out of him, and was attacked by him, which was absolutely fine with me. But I was shocked that so many people seemed to side with him and how strict the official warnings were and backed off. I’ve decided that getting too emotionally involved here is just a road to ruin, so I hang out mostly in CS and MPMIMS and keep my head down.
This, I like. It’s also nice when, even on the board, someone corrects you without being all mean-like (mean *is * necessary sometimes and that’s why I like the Pit).
And since this thread is about what we dislike here, I hate when relevant, cogent and on-the-mark posts are ignored, only to see the same repeated downthread. It’s made worse if the repetition is the exact same thing, only wordier.
This reminded me of something that drives me crazy about sentence by sentence responses (which I’ve seen primarily on this board). It’s not uncommon for a poster to repeat the same idea expressed in different ways in the same post. I’ve seen no end of sentence-by-sentence responses that act like it’s a back-and-forth conversation and that each subsequent iteration of that same idea has been expressed after seeing the line refuting the first iteration. (If that makes any kind of sense at all, I’ll be surprised.)
Might I suggest you shouldn’t be too bothered by this? After all, I’ve lost track of the number of the hallucinogenics out there since I tried one or two in the seventies.
Sorry Max. When I read your reply I realized that I tied your quote to my point, but of course, that wasn’t what you were saying. Sorry about that and thanks for clarifying. And I pretty much agree with you. If a post doesn’t get a response, the least likely reason is a cliqueish reason. A message board is a strange communications medium where everyone can talk (post), but no one really has to listen (read/reply).
You do realize that they have medicine for this now, right? The side-effects are in IMHO worth it: sore throat, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, constipation, painful itching, bloody vomit, flaking skin, loss of motor functions, and all around paranoia.
