When I was nine years old, Sandy Koufax announced that he was going into retirement. My folks explained to me that it was because his arm was tired and he needed to rest it. Maybe you’ll find it pathetically naive, but, I’ve been waiting every year since then for him to come back.
Quite frankly, I think that thirty-nine years of rest is enough for anybody’s arm, and I want Koufax back on the mound in Chavez Ravine, bright and early, come Spring, 2005. Because little nine-year-old kaylasdad99 hasn’t finished hero-worshipping old Sandy.
Even when he does return, I’m going to be disappointed, though, because he won’t be able to bring Don Drysdale with him (another second coming that toyed with my heart for most of my childhood).
Or at least watching my shows - I totally agree about Angel, Quantum Leap, Buffy and Oddessy 5 - I was totally disappointed about the endings, especially Odessy 5 which just disappeared - damn Showtime! And Showtime just recently did it to me AGAIN with Jeremiah - and this time they promised it was coming back in June but I haven’t seen it yet! And wonderfalls too - I enjoyed that show and now it’s gone! It’s a good thing they are doing the Firefly movie or else I really would be going crazy about that too!
Jeez, how much more closure does Buffy need? The series had 3 endings, at the end of Seasons 5, 6, & 7. Any of them would do. You will get an arguement as to whether Ending 5 or Ending 7 was the better one, but c’mon, be reasonable. You can’t get much more closure than a) Buffy sacrificing herself to save the world, or b) all of Sunnydale getting sucked into the Hellmouth.
I loved the Angel ending, especially with the modifications noted above!
I saw Married, With Children only occassionally, buy I remember one season in which the actress (Katy Segal?) was pregnant, and they had her character Peg be pregnant also. (She didn’t do much on the show then because she was on bed rest). The actress had a miscarriage IRL.
How was this tragedy handled with the character on the show?
