Things you never knew about the other sex until recently

When it happened to me and I asked my family physician, he told me it was probably just perimenopause and that happens to women sometimes as they approach menopause, that their periods get irregular, often more heavy and sometimes long-lasting. I believed him, and it continued to happen for a few years, and each time I would mention it he would tell me that. Mine ended up being from a serious medical cause that was only caught because I became extremely anemic, but I have been told by other women that it is not unusual when approaching menopause.

You are welcome to it.

If they start reciting the Gettysburg Address, though, seek medical attention…

…or a good agent.

There are pills (Seasonale, Seasonique) which are already built in with the “go three months without a period” setting.

Of all the things to settle with Trial By Combat… When any one of them could simply go ask their mother, eh?

Though if their parents were in the habit of referring to them as “you little turd” I guess I could see the source of the confusion.

I’m actually surprised at how easily it seems some women get yeast infections. I’m in my 30s and have never had one. Wearing tight pants leads to them? I mean, I know the basic idea behind what causes them but are they really that easy to get?

When I was in Grade Four, I got into an argument with a kid who firmly, firmly believed that twins “came out” at the same time. No amount of telling him that it didn’t actually work that way could sway him. I sincerely hope that between then and now somebody has set this guy straight. Although from what I hear on Facebook, he has a screw loose anyway, so maybe not.

When I do airtravel, I pick loose fitting pants, comfy shoes that I can run through an airport in, but don’t take all day to take off and put on at security. The pants are essential, in a tiny plane seat, needing to adjust your crotch is pretty much not happening…

I travelled about a week ago, and a women was a little in front of me as we were existing the plane - very tall heels and very tight jeans.

Obviously, she is either comfortable differently than I am, or values comfort less than looking hot (she did look hot, and I look like a slob when I travel).

I learned from this very board that sometimes women will masturbate then STOP half way through (with out finishing) because they get tired or bored.

WTF? This concept is comletely foreign to me.

That happens to men too.

It’s just not worth the effort/time/mess sometimes.

Yep. AFAICR, none of my erotic dreams have ever been particularly intense- certainly not like the ones which usually accompany wet dreams are supposed to be.

For what it’s worth, my SO had what seemed to be a month-long period and I made her go to the doctor… turned out she has endometriosis and some ovarian cysts that more or less both cropped up overnight.

Maybe other men, but not this one. If I’m more than 30 seconds in, my mother could pop in for an unexpected visit while the house caught fire and a swarm of killer bees came in through the window and I’d still have to finish.

It has nothing to do with being a woman. I have it happen, frequently.

Meanwhile, my (very female) ex thought the idea was strange.

It has happened to me during sex. Either he or I just give up and crash. Usually too tired (late night, second round, staying out late). We wake up a bit later to finish, though.

Although it has happened. Usually when wearing clothing I’m not entirely comfortable in, like a new pair of (tight?) shorts or an underwear/pants combo that may not be as forgiving as the stuff I’m (they’re) used to. It’s a bitch when it happens, causes much discomfort!

And doing this doesn’t work for everyone. I’ve tried many different hormonal BC variations - the ones that are supposed to make it better just made it worse (yes, after trying it for several months). The ones that actually worked as far as making my period go away turned me into a raging bitch (Depo). I’ve never had good luck with hormonal bc. Luckily for me, once I got out of my early 20s, the symptoms got a lot better.

I think some women are just more prone to them. I’m 28 and have had maybe 2 in my life - both when I was on the Nuvaring (which my gyno said isn’t a known side affect, but that she’s had other patients with the same issue).

And I like wearing tight pants. Not “so tight it hurts”, but I can’t imagine getting a yeast infection just from that.

I recently learned that about 95% of women don’t actually sit on a toilet. They rather squat about a foot above it…I guess it’s cuz they’re paranoid that all the OTHER women squatting above the toilet are pissing and shitting all over the seat?

It wasn’t THAT recently, but it wasn’t until I was 21 that I learned first hand that some women can have pretty hairy asses. That’s something you NEVER see in porn!

It’s not 95%–plenty of us think the squatting thing is really dumb. And inconsiderate if you don’t wipe up what you sprayed.

I know–what exactly is going to happen if you sit on gasp exposed toilet seats? This is just another one of those germaphobic things that I loathe.

Taking anti-histamines can affect it too. I think I learned about it on the Dope (and verified through personal experience).

Anybody else have the problem where you’d get up and all the menstrual fluid would just come out faster than the pad could absorb? I hated that.
