We took a little road ramble on a visit to Indiana, PA and came across a little blip on the map called Glen Campbell, PA. I only remembered it because of its resemblance to the name of the country singer.
There are 9 Springfield Townships in PA, one of them has the town name/zip code of Springfield, but there are no cities by that name.
Well, gee. Thank you for enlightening us on that point. We’ll now slink off to the hamlet (or is it a mud hut) we’re from, and flagellate ourselves while contemplating our folly.
Not in October, no.
My dad was from Altoona.
note: two completely unrelated comments.
I’m not in Pennsylvania now but the next time I am I’ll let you know.
The OP asked for cities. People are listing everything but.
No, if people were listing everything but, they would have written stuff like avocados, or washing machines, or Donald Trump. They are, actually, listing areas named on a map where groups of people live. Whether they are technically cities as opposed to townships or shires probably hasn’t registered on their Give-a-Shit© meter.
Where’s a “like” button, when you need one?
Ford City (I have friends from there).
Greensburg is what first came to mind, as I have relatives there. My father’s side of the family mostly originated in Export, but with a population below 1,000 I guess I’d be hard-pressed to call that a city ;).
State College
Well, I don’t know if Gettysburg technically counts as a “city,” but I answered that because it’s sure as shootin’ the first place I think of if I can’t answer Philly or Pittsburgh. (I’ve been there, and it’s not all that small, but I guess it is maybe more of a large town.)
Harrisburg and Allentown (Peggy Sawyer from 42nd Street!!! Woo!!!)
hamsters ate my post
The Endless Mountains Region (love that sign!)
Lake Ariel
For some reason (perhaps the play “That Championship Season”), I thought of Scranton.
Altoona. Which is Arabic for ‘The Tuna’.
For no particular reason, Scranton was the first one that came to mind, followed quickly by Erie. Had I first seen this thread tomorrow, I might have responded “Allentown”, or “Hershey”, or…
Altoona
Seven Springs, but only because it’s the new site of the Boardgame Players Association convention (aka the “World Boardgaming Championships”).
Washington, Indiana, California, and we’ll toss in York for kicks.
