Thanks, I was wondering what the hell “9a taco)” meant.
that’s his most irritating habit?
I’ve been to Tijuana exactly twice, and walked across the border both times. Between the border and downtown Tijuana there is (or was, at the time) a strip of hole-in-the-wall shops: open-fronted cinderblock places with almost no signage.
One of these shops was a little restaurant. Picnic tables, mystery meat on a rotisserie, and only one item on the menu: tacos. Five tacos for a dollar. We were a little nervous about trying the mystery meat, but it smelled awfully good, so I parted with a dollar. And holy crap were they good tacos. Everything that was good about Mexican food, all rolled up in five tortillas. The best Mexican food evar.
And I didn’t get sick.
But the best part was the name of the little hole-in-the-wall. It was called “Taco Bell.” Heh.
While Ralph is generally a moron, the SDMB has lots of those. I’d be fucking thrilled if type a little slower since he seems to have a mental block that keeps him from hitting the “(” key correctly.

Me too. My friend lived right around the corner. It’s no different than eany other Taco Bell. I never noticed anything out of the ordinary, in terms of cleanliness or food quality. In fact, it was probably cleaner than most Taco Bells in the north/central Jersey area.
Oh, I think my point wasn’t clear then. I LOVE taco stands. I would guess than a very tiny percentage of people who eat at them get sick from the food. But I also think the percentage of people who eat at Taco Bell who get sick is even lower. You only hear about it in the news because it’s a huge corporation.
I just don’t understand what people think is “disgusting” about Taco Bell. I’ve seen places with much more fat and gristle in the meat and much less sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining area. Maybe I have a different definition of disgusting.
On the news, they mentioned the Taco Bell in question had a clean record on health violations. As usual, we need to wait for the story to unfold.
ralph124c: I do not want to pile on, but I too think you do yourself a huge disservice by consistently screwing up your use of parenthesis.
Adding a free spellchecker to your browser would be a good idea also. It has helped me a lot. I use iespell 2.4 from www.iespell.com. Obviously if you do not use Internet explorer, you should ask around for a good add-in for your browser. I know firefox has some great ones.
Jim
Actually, the 2.0 release of Firefox had a spellchecker already built in; you don’t need any add-ons or extensions.
As somebody ince posted:
“Taco Bell: it’s cheaper than food.”
That said, Taco Bell was an important part of my diet in college.
Well, I’m not certain “habit” can be so loosely defined as to include “posting.”
Taco Bell. “It ain’t Mexican food, but is sure is good!” (My proposed slogan)
According to FOXNews, the outbreak was not at one restaurant, but several in NJ and NY. This might still put the blame on Taco Bell, as they probably pre-process some of their food at a central factory-kitchen. If the outbreaks were traced to other restaurants (not Taco Bell) this woud seem to implicate a farm or something. My money is on TB for taking the blame on this.
Taco Bell… so much more than just a queef euphemism.
This is just fucking great. Like I said I have been to the TB that was in the original report many times. I thought I was safe since it’s been at least months since I have been there. Now the story is expanding. I ate at the Taco Bell in Phillipsberg on Sunday. Anyone know how long it takes for symptoms to show up?
3 to 9 days for symptoms to appear.
Good luck.
Great. Tick tock.
Couldn’t it be lettuce-related?
Sure could. Even so, what are the chances that the tainted lettuce would end up at only one chain?
That’s not a rhetorical question, BTW. I really don’t know how food distribution works.
IANAD: For what it is worth, it mostly affects the young and the old. Even if you ate contaminated meat, as a healthy adult you are likely to just have the equivalent of a stomach virus.
My wife reminded me we use to eat at that Taco bell if it is the one in the Kmart Lot. But I have not been there since 1994.

Oh where, oh where has our OP gone,
Oh where, oh where can he be?
