Thinking of holding a retro video game tournament, ideas?

This is what I came in to post. Battletoads was one of the best and hardest games I’ve ever played.

I would also throw Super Smash TV and the original Sonic the Hedgehog into the mix.

2600 warlords. timeslaughter. rampart, as for bomberman? the sega saturn one had ten player capabilities iirc.

Joust.
Duck Hunt.
RBI Baseball
I loved M.U.S.C.L.E., but I don’t know how popular it was.
Spy Hunter, for distance, similar to Tetris for # of lines.

Goldeneye is a classic game?

My god I’m old.

Tetris should not be played for lines, it should be played for score.

The more lines you clear at once, the more points you get per line. If you just go for number of lines, there’s no reason for anyone to go for tetrises or even clearing two lines at once. People will just shoot for clearing one line at a time, since that’s the safe way to play, even if shooting for multiple line clears is typically going to net you a higher score by the time the game ends.

If it is in Houston I am in. Message me

You just have to play Super Mario Bros 3 and the other games from the Wizard. You can even pull it off as a surprise, since no one had played Mario 3 before that. Score would be based on how far you could get in a specified period of time.
