Thirty Thieves and the Thunder Chief...

Sylvia Wright coined teh term “mondegreen” for these, from the misheard lyrics to a folk song:

They’ve killed the Earl of Moray and Lady Mondegreen.

Which is really:

They’ve killed the Earl of Moray and laid him on the green.

Another one that strikes a chord is all of the Nirvana fans who think that the murder in “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” occurred in the pond.

Of course, these people aren’t old enough to know that this song is a rendition of old Huddy Ledbetter’s classic “In the Pines (Where Did You Sleep Last Night)”.

Nirvana has a ton of misheard lyrics…problem is, none of them really mean anything so it doesn’t really matter.

I think you mean the Stones.

That work too, especially if he’s in the bathroom

One of the posts above reminded me of that Madonna song that I always heard as : “Last night I slept with some bagels…”

There is a wonderful website that collects people’s misheard song lyrics, and takes submissions:

Hours of fun!

LOL!!

Put the pipe down. Step away from the computer. Put on your shoes. Go for a walk.

Just kidding man. Seriously tho, that was funny as hell man. Now every time I hear that song I am going to visualize The Thunder Chief with his magical Tomahawk, and the Thirty Thieves engaging in an epic battle with him. :dubious:

Well, I just learned something. I always heard that as “I’m not talkin’ 'bout millenia …”

Since the guy in question is just trying to get the lady to see him tonight. He wanted her to know he wasn’t necessarily thinking “we’ll be together forever.”

Thanks!
