This chick is in some serious advice on a verizon phone to buy (possible blackberry)

Dopers,

You’ve dopers seemed to rock when it comes to advising me on tech/cell related problems. Well, I got a biggie and theres a bit of money being spent. So, at the end of the day I’m taking your advice certainly not gut instinct. Here’s the deal
We’re talking blackberrys. This question is for you cell phone tech saavy as well and possible Verizon wireless employees. I had the 8703e from Verizon. (Oh, specifically Verizon blackberrys) They hear a chick’s voice on the phone and all of the sudden the tech thinks im a total moron. So the 8703e was a horrible phone. I had 5…. Count em 5! Glitch and break on my. They replaced all of them. Now, I had another problem this passed week where they said we’ll honor the 2 year replacement rate and give you a new phone since weve replaced so many. I did a little research…admittedly I should have done a lot more .
I decided on the blackberry storm. What a F’N disaster!!! I the keyboard doesn’t even work properly. The whole phone is horrible. Im sorry if I do offend some of you who like it. I can’t even use the damn thing. Everything is a headache tomorrow im going back in to exchange with their wonderful new 35% restock policy. Mayby I can use some girly magic and get them to waive it.
Well that’s a lot of useless info you prob don’t need to help me. Here’s what matters.

I’m looking for a phone that does NOT have to be a blackberry (Ive just always heard they were dependable.
In a phone, I use it primarily for texting…. In fact mostly for texting. I like the touch screen text but the storm’s is awful. It doesn’t have to be touch screen at all. Autocomplete text is a definite plus.
also, email is huge I send a lot of emails so the test and email go hand in hand.
Speakerphone is good to have. I just really want a standard phone features.
More importantly I browse the web a lot so a fantastic browser is a hugh plus!!!
I don’t need the media features. I could care less about the bells and whistles of mp3 players or media players although watching youtube would be a big plus. I already have an Ipod and a zune, ya know…… so I don’t need that on the phone as well.
I’m pretty tech-saavy so I can figure things out quite easy. Technology and the challenge therein is something I like.
I like to be able to sync my contacts with my PC.

That’s all I can think for right now. I’m not particular one way or another so if there is a phone that jumps out at youwhile you read this, mention it and I’ll seriously consider it.
I don’t have much to offer you In my thanks but I will send you my first test message!!! Ohhhh benefits.

Let me know what you think and recommend. My expensive purchase relies on it
Thanks ya’ll!!!

PS the quicker the response the better seeing I plan on getting this tomorrow!

I’ve got a storm. I don’t text so it has taken me a while to get used to the keyboard. And it’s my first smart phone. But I love it.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that there are different settings for the keyboard. Hover Time, Tap Interval, Swipe Sensitivity for instance. Have you looked into any of that? Also, its designed such that you should use your left thumb for the left side and visa-versa. If you start crossing over, it just doesn’t work as well.

Sorry, no suggestions on a different phone, and I did want to say high to another Colorado doper.

I dont do cdma , so I cant really advise on the handsets, what you basically described was an iPhone, lol but thats AT&T.

Howardforums/verizon

You can spend hours on that forum researching cell phones, but they should have some useful info on what ever the best pda in the current stable is.

Declan

I would not recommend a Voyager. It constantly calls people while in my pocket. So I have to be careful that I haven’t accidentally called someone when talking, etc. I love the QWERTY keyboard, but the touchscreen is worthless.

[edit] After posting, I see you were getting this today. What did you get?

I like my ENV2 a lot, but it does pocket dial once in a while.
