This country is fucked: Survey says Fox now most trusted name in news.

huh?

Do you realize your arguments are of the Pee-Wee Herman level?

“I know you are but what am I?”

Sorry to have given you credit for being 14.

  1. And already a tool.

I’m done sparring with you. You are a waste of electrons.

No, they don’t, actually.

If they do, it’s the retarded half.

Frankly, I doubt that you are capable of making anyone look like a moron.

The guards at the home let you slip out again?

No. Just below average. Heh.

Why is it that so many people seem to revel in feeling a sense of doom? OMG! Fox is teh most popular. The sky is falling!!

It’s the same country and the same people. We kicked out the Republicans and elected Obama for fucks sake. We’re all over the map.

Because this is the Pit.

Well, to be fair, he does manage to do a rather excellent job on himself.

Oh, yeah, the man in the mirror! :smack:

How could I forget?

My mother-in-unlawfulness is an avid FOX news watcher. She’s in her early 60s. I had come to accept it without too much hair-pulling…until her last visit over Christmas. She was going to be flying back to North Dakota in a few days when the whole Christmas Bomber story broke. I figured there might be fallout like airport security kicking up several notches just in time for her return trip, so I turned on the NPR news stream on my laptop while making dinner. An hour or so after listening to the broadcast she asked me…I shit you not…in all seriousness, “What’s NPR?”

It was at that point that my tenuous tolerance for her news habits was destroyed and I began to inwardly cry stinging tears of icepick-of-unchecked-ignorance-in-the-eye. I mean…there’s ignoring the other side and there is being so brainwashed as to having no concept of sides. When I was done chewing off my tongue, I immediately thought about that math video in elementary school where the Point People are unaware of the Linear People and the Linear People are unaware of the Planar people, etc, and that made me feel bad because she makes great Christmas cookies, she always cries whenever she or we are leaving to return home after a visit, and she brought the love of my life into the world. But…geez.

Actually, the poll says nothing of the kind, but I see how an imbecile would make that confusion. The poll makes absolutely no point re. the actual trustworthiness of a network or the other. Opinions aren’t facts. Just because half this fucking planet believes in the Great Beard in the Sky, doesn’t mean there is one.

You’re drawing the wrong conclusion from this poll. America is in the grip of a massive recession. Millions of people are out of work. They’re angry at the government. Right now the government is primarily comprised of Democrats. FOX News exists solely to attack Democrats. Ergo, confirmation bias is encouraging people to gravitate towards FOX. Mark my words, when the economy gets back on its feet FOX will quickly lose its current esteem. Either that, or it will moderate the staggering, relentless right-wing bias it wears like a badge of honour.

When the economy gets back on its feet, Fox News will claim that the Republicans did it, regardless of who is in power at the time.

I saw that Fat-Ass from MSNBC who wanted to vote 20 times in Massachusetts on the Today show yesterday morning.

You’d have thought he’d be drummed out of the real journalism brigade already wouldn’t you?

… or maybe Today doesn’t count.

With her being an avid Fox News watcher, I’m surprised she didn’t “know” that NPR is a commie, liberal, homosexual bullhorn.

No more than “Fox and Friends”, which even FoxNews considers part of its non-news programming.

Was “Special” Ed saying anything that might otherwise have been considered news?

Has anyone, anywhere every referred to the Today Show as news?

Himself?

For heaven’s sake, even the ombudsman at The Washington Post can see the pro-Obama bias at her own paper. The MSM gave Obama more publicity since 2003 than they gave McCain since 1995. ABC runs a puff piece on Obama’s health care ideas, but won’t allow the other side to buy 33 seconds to counter it.

The New York Times runs an article to push Obama’s ideas on foreign policy, but won’t allow McCain to give his.
Mark Halperin can see it, Ann Lewis can see it, unaffiliated voterscan see it - but the SDMB can’t.

Imagine that.

Regards,
Shodan

Gigo, I see you still completely miss the point. Oh well.

Look at the OP again. The lack of trust was not due to your perceived version of reality… it was due to the perceptions of the public at large. The Echo Chamber of the SDMB likes to pile on Fox News, and they probably deserve it in some cases.

But my comment pertained to the high-profile incidents of RatherGate and the Lincoln Bedrooms purchased by CNN. Nobody here can admit to themselves that those incidents (plus an actual tilt IMHO, plus working the refs by talk radio) have in many ways caused this public perception. In other words, the left brought this on themselves.

Remember that there are more conservatives than liberals in this country. If the media won’t align themselves along those lines, why would this poll surprise anyone?
