This is educated?

Feel free to check out this thread: Better school systems, mandatory mil. service…?

Start at zen101’s posting of 05-31-2002 10:54 PM and continue from there. I see no evidence ol’ zen has any education whatsoever, let alone that he’s on the way to a second degree. What I do see, on the other hand, is plenty of indicators that he’s either completely uneducated or just flat out ignorant.

What really amused me was when I pointed out to him that his theory of societal interaction (murderers as predators are necessary to “cull the herd” since their victims didn’t deserve to live anyway, what with being weak and all) was no better than Hitler he then decided that I had accused him of being a Nazi. I didn’t. I merely indicated that his so-called philosophy is no better than the Nazi philosophy.

His “sig line” is quite amusing also. “D.F.A.” stands for “Death From Above.” In zen’s case it should stand for “Dearth From Asininity.”

Come to think of it, zen kind of reminds me of an ill-informed version of Captain (actually Commander) Ed. At least Ed could articulate his inane points. I guess it’s nice to know it’s not just the Navy that has a whacko or two amongst their veterans.

BTW: You should notice that it wasn’t until after I mentioned that the cold-blooded outlook was no better than Hitler did ol’ zen decide to inform me that he’s Jewish. Until I read the thread linked above, I hadn’t noticed any of zen’s other postings.

I wonder why I keep my opinions to myself (mostly)?

<Anticipating flames> I should have said political opinions.

I use ‘political’ in the pure sense of the word (not in the govornmental sense)

That was deceptive of him. I thought he was educated for a while too, and then I saw he disagreed with me on a matter. I hate liars.

Well, gee, Eternal. I’m not taking him to task for disagreeing with me. I’m taking him to task for his “murderers cull the herd” attitude. His postings certainly don’t indicate the familiarity with the language someone with a college degree would have. To be fair, zen didn’t say 'twas a college degree. Heck, he could’ve meant that he got his kindergarten “degree” and was on the way to receiving his elementary school “degree.”

Yes, asinine opinions and a high degree of education are mutually exclusive states of being…

Zen is a moron
It’s easy to see.
'Cause some of his posts,
Disagree with ME.

Ah, I think I’ve got it. I believe that Monty made a small misunderstanding. Here’s a quote from the linked thread - I think that this is what you were talking about, Monty:

I don’t think that zen101 meant that the victims of the thief or killer were weak - he mean that an “obvious thief or killer” was weak in that he/she would be easily caught and punished. The predator in zen101’s analogy is not the murderer, but the judicial and penal systems that punish him or her.

Now, taking this analogy on, we have an evolutionary pressure (the predator/penal system) on the herd of villains. If the fittest survive, the society is breeding stronger, more competent villains who can steal and kill more efficiently, and are better at escaping detection and punishment!

This in itself is not an argument against justice or punishment, but it’s an interesting consequence of applying the “predators are necessary to cull the herd” reasoning.

I don’t think that Monty was calling zen101 uneducated because they disagreed - Monty thought that zen101 was implying that victims of murderers are weak (an idea both horrendous and stupid), and was rightly outraged. Misunderstandings happen. I reckon zen101 could maybe have made his point a little clearer, so we could be sure who was killing whom and who was culling whom.

All sorted out now?

Actually, it’s not; however, thanks for a differing viewpoint, Tansu. Now check the rest of the thread and you’ll see that zen really was describing the victims.

Reading on, you’re probably right. Social darwinism, eugenics: big motherfucking yawn. And stupid.

Tansu, thanks! I really could’ve summed up zen’s points just the way you did. I’ll try in the future to emulate your brevity here.

Don’t say “motherfucking” in GD, though!

Well, drat. Guess we’ll have to stick with verbose, then.

Sorry Monty, but even if your OP has some valid points, your " I am Monty, and I have decided to be a condescending prick to my poster of the week" crap is getting a bit tiresome.

Give me shit if you wish, but I have been here a long time, and your holier than thou attitude is simply fucking irritating.

Nice of you to read all that crap into it, Klaatu. Let me know how all your other fiction’s selling, will you?

hehe. You funny. Negative forces influence and accentuate conditions which need to be addressed. It’s a fairly common and observable principle. If a person is murdered and no one is ever caught then we as a society decide if we need to alter our methods for apprehending murderers. If a suspect is caught but not convicted, we have another opportunity to modify our approach toward the issue or ignore it.

Since the obvious criminal is the one usually caught those are the first indicators of societal problems. Say you see a large trend of murderers have YY chromosome disorder and the parent;s of those murderers were chronic drinkers. This is an opportunity to draw some conclusions if fetal alchohol syndrome is their only similarity then you could determine you need to fix this isse and attempt to do so. No method being perfect, the obvious criminal is just in indicator. Our method of correcting these issues is really how we apply positive force in response to a negative trend. Again it’s a common concept in both economics and game management.

I’m am a very cold blooded person, however, monty. Self awareness does not bring me shame if that was your intent with that statement. I see no greater value in most human life, yours included, than I have seen in animals I have taken for food. But I think it’s your own emotion on this topic, and others, that blinds you to the obvious.

Still, I fail to see how obvious my lack of education is. I mean hell I could be completely stupid and still be educated. Did you know that at one time you could major in the pop star Madonna at UC Berkeley? Get into the groove! At PSU they had a course in Vampire movies (not a majors course, but it satisfies a 300 level requirement for an AL degree and was hella’ more fun than statistics).

God I even forgot your point in the OP. Oh yeah, because you misunderstood my post I’m uneducated. Yeah, you misunderstood me while several others got it bang on and I’m uneducated. Okay. Hell I’m watching Dybya mispronounce nukuler on the teevee and he’s Ivy League. heh

Hey chalk? Ivory on the phone for you.

“Hey, chalk? Dude, you’re white!”

[sub]Had to vary it slightly…[/sub]

whoah - thread from the dead!

Hey opinions are fine. Just pray Monty doesn’t end up in Bush’s cabinet. Just imagine him in the Justice Department:eek:
