This is just sick [fossilized vomit discovered in Denmark]

66 million year old fish vomit found in Denmark …

Sounds more like it will help them discover what animals shouldn’t have
been eating.

“Cleanen uppen aislen seks!”

While I appreciate the clever title, it was unfortunately a bit too non-descriptive regarding the actual topic. I have therefore edited the title to more clearly indicate the actual topic.

This really begs the question … how does vomit, as such, actually get fossilised? How do they tell the difference between this and, say, a seal lily died and its corpse was stepped on and mushed up by a plesiosaur?

So - - they don’t know which sort of fish or shark produced the fossil. They only know what sort of organism was in the fossil (sea lilies). They didn’t say why it was categorized as vomit and not feces. I assume it was because it was a loose pile and not shaped in any way.

They don’t know whose it is. You can’t really dust for vomit.
