OK, the results are in.
Over the course of several days and some 370 posts, approx. 60 registered users of the SDMB, not including mods or administrators, have posted to the thread titled “THIS IS WAR DAMMIT”.
Of this group, by my count, 43 have posted negative opinions of the OP. While none appeared entirely neutral, approx. 14 posters were split on the issue or posted exclusively on matters that were not part of the OP. Two (2) users posted messages that could be deemed in favor of the OP; Pit Meister and suspected sock puppet Wardensu.
The negative posts were notable for their strong objections to the opinions expressed in the OP, using terms including, but not limited to, “fool”, “stupidity”, “twit” , “racist” , “jingoistic”, “fanatical looneyism”, “half-witted”, “embarrassing”, “warped”, and “daft bint”. The all-purpose put-down “fuck you” featured prominently in several messages.
The author of the OP replied in kind, using terms such as “cowards”, “jingoistic” (the writer apparently misunderstood the term), “morons”, “bitch”, and, er, “morons” again.
Final results:
In favor of OP: 3%
Against OP: 73%
Split/Other: 24%
