This is weird (question for ladies with Lunette cups)

When you got your cup in the mail, did the package slip have a handwritten note underneath? Is this common business practice in Finland? Or do they just like me?

I… am not sure what to make of this.

It’s been my experience that orders from overseas (especially Ireland and England) generally include some attempt to make me feel I have received personalized service. Or perhaps it is a symptom that I have, in fact, received personalized service. . .

In some cases, it’s as simple as a person who worked hard to learn English and is happy to have a chance to use it in their business day.

I wouldn’t be creeped out by it, although I certainly understand the feeling in connection with such a personal item.

Just noting that I’ve received little free samples with orders from tea companies and soap-making companies, too, typically with a small note. I’m assuming they think/have research/whatever that personalized service improves customer satisfaction or reordering or something. I’ll note that the samples did make me think good things about the companies I got them from, so maybe it works for stuff like that but can be “weird” for menstrual supplies.

I’m glad to hear you can get the Lunette in the US now. I have been wanting to try it for a while.

I’ve gotten little notes on my invoices and small free samples before. Usually it’s from a small company where the owner is fulfilling the orders themselves. The only reason I would think it’s odd for a menstrual cup order is that it’s kind of hard to get repeat business when you sell a product that’s supposed to last for 10 years.

I’d only be worried if they included their home phone number.

Not that weird for a smaller company, especially one that’s got a bit of an artsy, alternative feel and relies on word-of-mouth.

Just as long as your mail carrier doesn’t ask you how fresh you’re feeling…

I want to change my SDMB handle to Illegible Signature.

I thought I had no business in this thread, based on the title, though on mouseover I realized it was in fact a topic I could contribute to.

This happens in America too. When I first opened an account at Bank of America, I got a handwritten thank you note in the mail. Also, I had a similar experience with a spa-like business (yeah I’m a man and I went to a spa, the shame) after visiting it once. I knew it was a grand ploy carefully designed to retain my business, but it made me feel special anyway.

Probably the cup wash is their attempt to get more repeat business, I bet. Most women would get the cup and then nada, so this is a good way to encourage future orders.
