That’s crazy, watching the drunk driver weaving back and forth in fast-motion.
The emergency vehicles around here have white strobes on their light bars that are supposed to change the lights in intersections, I think so that they all turn red. Perhaps the driver of the van thought that they had some thing like that on the light bar and expected red lights all around.
Speed effects are a great way to see patterns in what otherwise may appear to be random noise. When I was much younger I saw a nature program that showed maggots working on a mouse carcass. What appeared random in real time was actually a group response; ‘swimming’ back and forth on the carcass working with each other until nothing was left but bones.
Often I take long steady shots and speed them up to see if there is any pattern to be had.
Reported.
There is a thread on a local specific message board where a guy with a dash cam that apparently drives for a living posts videos of the craziest shit, cars deciding they suddenly need to be 4 lanes over, pedestrians deciding to bolt across a highway and barely avoiding death, a couple of nasty wrecks.
There is no way in hell I’d drive without a dash cam.
You may want to check with a lawyer on the legality of withholding evidence.
We’ve got a dash cam and it was useful when another driver had a fit of road rage. He was aggressively swerving into my lane and such. I swiveled the camera in his direction and pointed to it. He decided to go off at that stage.
Don’t lie about your dashcam, just accidentally record the the front of your house over the evidence. There are no laws forbidding fat thumbs. Hell, break the sdcard when you take it out;" sorry officer, I was really nervous"; nobody is going to send a snapped in half sd card to some lab to find a traffic violation.
Are you a volunteer firefighter or something?
I was actually referring to events where it favors your case. This is 2nd hand information but a friend of mine was told in passing that if his security system was active during a burglary then he couldn’t touch it. Essentially it was considered tampering with evidence.
One of my hats is being in charge of our county’s mobile emergency communications post. Should something large scale, or dreadful happen, we drag out the big-ass comm trailer and set up alternate or parallel emergency comms for the county. 2 of us are on call 24/7 to do this, so lights and sirens are warranted on our POVs.
Should our new state-of-the-art EOC go down or get compromised in some fashion, I can route 911 calls through the trailer and dispatch from there. There are multiple operator positions to cover many contingencies.
I’m just a helper, is all.
Are amateur radio operators’ personal cars considered “authorized emergency vehicles” in Georgia? Are private citizens allowed to just shut down roads?
Sure, in Whackerstan.
Allowed? Well I have shut down roads by just standing there and holding up my hand. Others were doing the rescue stuff and medical stuff. When the official folks got there they just took over for me and kept on doing what I had been doing until it was safe for traffic to slowly move through.
I did not have flashing lights. My flashers were working where I parked blocking the right lane.
Nobody said a thing so I guess they thought I was doing the right thing by blocking all the traffic on that side of the interstate.
And I have done similar things with similar police response, except that I’ve directed others to take care of traffic because I was doing the “medical stuff” until the EMTs arrived.*
Ducati, however, implied that he does this routinely, and in response to “road trouble,” not as improvised and temporary measure taken only because of a genuine emergency. The latter is being a good citizen, and I thank you for your service. The former is kind of worrisome, you know?
- I’m a Wilderness First Responder, though my credentials are now long expired. In non-wilderness situations, WFRs are supposed to do what any first responder does if they happen to be first on the scene of an accident. Being expired, I no longer have any actual obligations except as a human being who has some useful training.
