A gay couple in Vancouver won C$50 million in the lottery. They picked up the prize on Tuesday. Why Tuesday you ask?
"Sunday is church and Monday I had no time," Kurt told CTV News from the offices of the B.C. Lottery Commission, after being presented with an oversized cheque for the couple’s winnings. “Today is the day.”
Canadians–no sense of avarice.
One of the fine gentlemen I work with is convinced that what makes you win the lottery is having a good story. While watching the news reports of this couple picking up their cheque he turned to his wife and explained this theory yet again. He then said “See honey that was a great story. It’s too bad you’re not a man”
When telling the story of this encounter today he seemed to be truly astonished that she is upset by this conversation
What is it with Canadians? Here is a story of an elderly couple in NS who won C$11 million. They have given it all away.
“It made us feel good,” said Violet. “And there’s so much good being done with that money.”
"That money that we won was nothing," Allen added. “We have each other.”
