Agreed. While I have at times thought I missed this or that feature over the past month, I’ve typically found another (often better) method of performing that action in short order.
I was very skeptical at first, but I’m loving it. For example, I typically hate infinite scroll, but if comes with that cool slider on the right, I’ll take it over pages any day. The quoting functionality seemed strange at first, but now I find it powerful as hell.
I prefer the new style of quoting but if I had a choice I’d switch back to the old pagination system, because the internal thread search doesn’t highlight the words you were looking for or let you look through them using the down button, and if you manage to get to the Control-f feature, it only keeps a limited amount of the thread on the page. I’d prefer endless scroll if there were a way to display everything on the page. It should be possible because Facebook manages to do it and include a lot more images in the process.
Maybe it’s theme related, but it does highlight terms for me. Even better (for me), if I search for a word, click the box “Search this topic”, then select “more”, it shows every single post in the thread with that word. It also shows the portion of the post with that searched word, so I can see context. It even includes posters and post numbers, if that matters to me. Again, that might not be ideal for all, but is one of the things that I thought I was missing, but that I ended up preferring the alternative.
