This past weekend's Flip Wilson Marathon

I didn’t watch it all. I did catch the eps with George Carlin. Wow! Not funny. Or, at least, not aging very well.

It did prove to me that Lily Tomlin has never been funny (IMHO).

I was especially interested in the musical performances:

I was able to see the Paul McCartney & Wings video for “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. Evidence that Paul wasn’t just growing corn on his farm.

Also, the Osmond Brothers performing “Yo-yo”.

All the boy bands of the 80’s & 90’s should bow down to these guys and their bitchin’ choreography. I’ll try to ignore the “Elvis-like” black sequin jumpsuits w/contrasting sashes.

I REALLY liked the African guy playing the little hand held…thing… (how’s that for an obscure reference).

I saw the Jackson 5, when Michael was black!

Flip Wilson: extremely talented.

Flip Wilson’s writers: not so much.

I saw a bit of it. Occasionally I chuckled slightly.

But, for the most part, I wondered: “Were we REALLY that desperate for entertainment back then?”
