This pic says it all..

Arden Ranger:

Weird. I’m at work, and when I clicked on your link the nannyware denied entry, saying the site was in the category “racism.” Why is that?

Photos from space. Amazing.

If you go to http://latimes.com and click on the link titled “The Day After” in the Photos section I believe the first photo in the slide show is the one I was thinking of. There are many good pictures here, esp. some showing international reaction, including one that seemed so oddly touching…a candlight vigil at a Volkswagon plant.

I have no idea. Like I said, it’s a liberal Bush bashing site usually. But I followed a link to it for the news updates when I couldn’t get on any other sites so there may be things I don’t know about it.

Thanks for the pic, Sasquatch! I’m using it on a T-shirt I am making to wear tomorrow.

Your nannyware blocks bartcop because his site frequently uses words like “nazi”, “pigs”, and “whores” to describe American conservatives. That’s liberal tolerance for ya. The fewer people who visit that site the better, IMHO.

I won’t criticize the message of the first image. However, the style is “tacky,” for lack of a better word – I imagine seeing black “crying eagle” t-shirts hung alongside those depicting wolves, Harley-Davidsons and Peterbilts at the Flying J or 76 Travel Center.

Don’t know if any of y’all have seen this picture.

It’s just a funky pattern in the smoke, right? Right?

No my friend, it’s… BATMAN!!!

I told you all but you wouldn’t listen! Batman has been long been offended by America’s policies regarding nocturnal mammals in his hometown of GOTHAM!!! Nostradamus predicted that Batman would take revenge on Gotham on 9/11 (911-- get it???) since Giuliani started cleaning guano off the buildings in Times Square! Check out the following quote:

In the year of the flickering monolith (Kubrik’s 2001???)
in the ninth month, day two and nine (2+9 = 11!!)
The Man-Bat shall bring a great rumble
In the new city of Yourk (New + Yourk = New York!!!)

Have you tried typing “BATMAN” in the wingdings font? Try it, I dare you. Vindication is mine! BWAHAHAHAHA-

woops, sorry there. No, yeah, it’s a funky pattern in the smoke. Geez, that was embarrasing.
Some great pictures in this thread. Thanks to all.

wow…

Can anyone find a larger version?

Stupid computer question…
How can I save that photo (the firefighters raising the flag) to be the wallpaper on my computer? I saved it, but it’s so small, it has to be tiled, and I don’t like how it looks. How can I enlarge it, so it’s just that photo on the screen?
Thanks!

(I must have this one…hubby and I are both volunteer firefighters)

It’s an AP photo by Thomas E. Franklin of The Record. I found a somewhat larger copy at the Washington Post website: Firefighters raise flag amidst debris.

I’m certainly no expert on the subject matter, but you might try this: simply click on the right hand side of your mouse. One of the options enables you to ‘set as wallpaper’. Then click on the left hand side of the mouse.

This one moved me.

The collage of photos here.

We are not alone.

Beautiful.
This site does the same thing, just with more pictures (and some of the same). Takes awhile to load, but worth a look.
