The letters stand for words:
example- 26 L of the A = 26 Letters of the Alphabet
Four Carats in an Engagement Ring
4 Corners in an Entire Rectangle
I don’t care if that’s what the original constructor intended or not. It works. Anything to make it go away.
Four children in an Episcopalian romance
4 corners in every rectangle ?
So what was the answer to that other one? What was that, 14 k in something or other?
These pretzels are making me thirsty.
Sorry, this just came to mind right now when I saw the thread title.
Carry on.
What’s the origin? I Google’d this and so far the only reference in Google, with these exact terms, is in this thread.
Ha Ha, I Googled it and the only result was this thread.
I found it hilarious.
This was what I was going to say.
(that or 4 Cuties in an Erotic Reverie)
4 Corpses in an Emergency Room?
Other than that, I got nothin’.
Here’s the thing- there’s really no guessing about these things. If you get it right, it’s an AHA!
However, usually what happens is that the OP has got the wording very slightly wrong. In this present case, since the OP is fixating on Emergency Room, he very likely changed the “a” to “an” without thinking about it.** Siam Sam**, this is likely why we never got a answer to the other “riddle”- the OP never had a source, and he likely got the “riddle” wrong.
In the future, what I think we need is a link or the source for the original. What surprises me is that they almost always have the answer right there.
OP- what’s the source and why was there no answer?
4 chicks in an eagle’s roost.
4 chops in an emu roast.
never mind
wow. i want to hang out with the people you hang out with…!
Four chuckwallas in an expanding raisin. Oh, sorry, that’s not an answer; that’s the drugs coming on. What was the question?
^ This.
4 Cons in an Elaborate Ruse
Oh. In that case, my vote is for:
Four corners in an empty room.
Although I can’t remember the letters in question now, I know I looked it up back then and found it in lists of similar puzzles. It seems to have stumped everyone universally. Wasn’t it from one of those college-entrance exams? The GRE or something like that?
