Look, if you want to rile people up, you should emulate a howler monkey and throw some feces around. That turns a boring company meeting into something a little more fun, too.
- Layoffs at the state and county levels are imminent. That threat has been hanging over state workers heads for well over a year. Some left before the hatchet could fall.
- Agreed on the overspending. But don’t forget waste. I do not know how much is spend in computer equipment every year, but it is considerable (we just received flat screen monitors-the old monitors will be thrown away. Now they’re looking at new CPUs, when these work just dandy. BUT, it was put in their budget and golly garsh darn it, they’re going to spend the money!)
Then there is Michigan. The state struck a deal with the universities saying if you agree to not raise tuition over a certain amount, we will give you xx dollars of funding.
So every university held their tuition increase to that amount or lower.
Except now the state came back and said “Oops, things are tight. We need to take some of that money back.” They broke the deal. I understand why they had to, but still, it’s annoying.
