This state budget 'shortfall' is pissing me off mightily

For the past week I’ve heard nothing for local news but how Minnesota has a huge shortfall in the budget. We elected (thank the heavens) a govenor that refuses to raise taxes.

There has been nothing but nashing of teeth and the exclaims that we must raise taxes.

It was just released that the tax revenue is projected to increase 6.6% In the two years.

That’s right, increase. Increase! This is higher than inflation! We went from a balanced budget to ungodly billions in shortfall while increasing tax revenue above inflation and by quite a bit?!

What in bloody hell is going on here?

What we need right now is a new stadium funded by taxpayer monkey!

Er, money. You make one too many jokes about monkeys and it just becomes natural to type…

Although I do like the idea of taxing monkeys.

A new stadium? As in one? I thought the Gophers need one as well as the Vikings and the Twins.

Weren’t the Timberwolves groussing sround for one also?

This is clearly the best typo ever. You should use this line as a signature.

I thought ‘monkey’ was intentional!

Are you using “monkey” as a direct object or a prepositional object (if there is such a thing)?

Because I really like the idea of monkeys running around in little suits, randomly charging people money for things they buy. You’d pay the cashier the $19.95, and give the monkey $1.01. And the IRS would be LOUSY with monkeys!

And there goes the thread hopelessly off course, never to actually deal with Minnesota’s budget crisis again. It’s all about the monkeys.

Monkey taxation was abolished by the Monkey Reallocation Act of 1994, thank you very much Senator Orrin Hatch.

You’ll take my taxpayer monkey when it flies out of my cold, dead butt.

Damn straight! Its high time those banana eating, flea-bitten, butt-picking freeloaders took on a fare share of the tax burden!

I propose that we write our senators at once and propose enacting of Primate Taxation Legislation!

Could you ask Taxpayer Monkey to please also fund the Minnesota health care and K-12 education expenses that are going through the roof? Gracias.

Fund it the same way that coworkers, friends and I are being funded for these increased expenses…

By cutting them.

My company went from paying 90% to 70% of health care insurance and by cutting family contribution completely. In this time of paying an addition 20%, the actual cost of health insurance has gone up. I am paying nearly twice as much for my insurance as I was before. My situation is not unusual.

Do the same thing to government employees. Why should they not suffer along with the people who are paying their salaries?

Also, you could layoff a percentage of them. People are getting laid off hand over fist. Why should government employees not get laid off? THERE IS NO BUDGET SHORTFALL! Just overspending.

As for K-12, same applies. If they can’t survive by getting a 6.6% increase in revenue, they should all be fired and more competent people put in their place.

Duh da duh duh
It’s the Taxpayer Monkey show!

By day he is a mild mannered monkey butler,
But when financial crisis rears it’s ugly head,
Or funding for a municipal project is in doubt,
He transforms into Taxpayer Monkey; guardian of public infrastrucure!

Theme song

Taxpayer Monkey is the best!
Pays the taxes for all the rest!
He’ll fund a stadium or museum tower,
with his amazing tariff power.
Any public project he’ll subsidize
Just so our brackets don’t rise!

Hehe, I’m in a damn wierd mood today.

Why all the fuss over chimp change?

SHOW ME THE MONKEY!!!

Sorry, someone had to say it.

Best part of the whole budget shortfall is Ventura’s “I told you so.” routine.

High comedy.

-Myron in Minnesota.

A little nit here, but Ventura is not really a monkey. He’s more of an ape.

And not a great one.

Bet you never expected this turn of events, Andymurph64.

A funny pit thread, .

I tried to get someone riled up in my last post but it didn’t work…

Chimp change. I like that!
