Has to be seen to be believed. Can you spot the Mars Rover?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w
Seems like someone already posted this; it IS amazing, though!
Like I said in the other thread. I can’t see cause and effect in each mechanism. I’m not convinced someone isn’t pulling strings. The cause and effect that you do see, is brute force.
Sorry, I didn’t see the other thread. In fact, I couldn’t find it just now.
Pretty fun…of course much of the energy is being supplied by potential energy that is stored beforehand in such things as elevated items that are later released to hit something. So it is an impressive show of triggering devices that have energy stored in them prior to filming.
“OK Go” does not lend itself to productive searching, does it?
I don’t mind having another reminder to watch this. It took me two or three times before I noticed what was playing on the TV that gets smashed.
I think it will probably look better on DVD than online - some of the subtle stuff sometimes gets lost in the compression and/or framerate of Youtube video.
But yes, like quite a few other OK Go videos, it’s full of awesome.
I had more or less the same thought. Either the mechanism was out of frame, or there’s not enough detail to see clearly what is going on. I suspect Rube would give it a B- at best.
But it was a nice assemblage of cascading oddball events. I’d have to watch it a few times to pick up more of the details. Never did see the lunar lander.
For something like “ok go”, google is going to be a much better way to search. (In fact, it’s a better way to search anyway, for 99% of what you’re looking for.)
I searched on:
site:boards.straightdope.com rube goldberg video ok go
The Mars Rover is at the top of the screen starting at 2:09.
