Thor (open spoilers)

But Odin raised Loki as his son. I could easily see a man who feels killing in a time of war is ok having a problem with killing his son.

Very true, but I think at the time it was one of Odins laws that applied to all asgardians. IIRC, he didn’t want to exile Thor because understood why Thor had done it, and didn’t want to lose his other son too, but said something along the lines of “Its the law, so it must be applied, even when its my own son”

Need to go home and check my comic books.

I found a site with some Easter Eggs for the movie. I still haven’t seen it yet, but hopefully I can see it this weekend or early next week.

In the version of the myths I know, Loki causes Ragnarok (or at least sets it in motion with Baldur’s death), and he and Heimdall kill each other during the final battle.

I was going to say they were blood-brothers, but it sounds like maybe both were true – at least from the translations I found here:

Apparently there was an Ant Man reference in Thor but it was very indirect.

It’s in the scene where Erik is warning Jane about SHIELD. He tells her a story about a scientist he knew who was working on Gamma radiation and then disappeared. This obviously is a reference to Bruce Banner who became the Hulk.

But then he goes on to say he knows a scientist who works with SHIELD and he’ll call him. This second scientist is supposedly Henry Pym. Apparently he was named in earlier drafts of the script. And it would fit in with current Marvel (Ultimate) continuity where Pym was brought in by SHIELD to investigate Banner’s work.

I think there was also a referernce to Bill Foster (former Black Goliath/Goliath/Giantman) I think in that same scene. I forget what the exact line was but–something referencing the “Foster effect”

The reference to the “Foster effect” or “Foster Theory” or “Foster Research” (I don’t remember what the exact wording was) . . .
I remember this not from the scene in which Erik is telling Jane about SHIELD but, rather, from the post credits scene where Erik meets Nick Fury.

Fury tells Erik that the reason they’re contacting him is because of his work on the Foster Whatever. I assumed this was just a reference to the work he was doing in New Mexico with Jane Foster- as we’ve seen throughout the film.

Any speculation about a connection between Jane and Bill Foster?

Interesting to note how international the cast was. There was an Australian, an Israeli, a Swede, four Britons, five Americans, a Japanese, and a Canadian.

…was it really in that scene? I could have sworn it was earlier. You are most likely right to it being a reference to Jane.

Damn.. I got really excited by that thinking it was a nice little nuggest for fans.

P.S. In my area, the Discount Theaters picked up Thor just last week- a good two weeks ahead of the upcoming release of Captain America. Hooray! I do indeed get the opportunity to “marathon” all the other films leading up to Captain America!

Just watched it last night at the discount theater. I’m nearly certain that the reference we’re talking about did come in the post credits Nick Fury scene.

I’ll probably watch it again before Captain America next week. I’ll double check and report back.

. . . and the double checking has been done:
Yes. It is in the post credits scene. Nick Fury: “You have impressed a lot of people a lot smarter than me.” (paraphrased)
Erik Selvig “I have so much to work with- the Foster Theory, a gateway to another world- it’s all unprecedented . . . isn’t it?” (also paraphrased, but it was definitely “Foster Theory”)

Yeah, he’s talking about his work with Jane.

He is a rising star, An “A” list Actor. Eloquent, gifted, talented and regal. Idris has 3 fb sites with over 2,000,000 woman waiting for him to speak daily. American Gangsters, taken, gospel. He is british and distinguish and the most devalued actor I’ve seen. We are waiting for the next DENZEL WASHINGTON an uncompromisingly dominant actor. Obessed was good it could have been better if they went and little deeper into the life of his stalker. We are starved for a astonishing talented and sexy actor of his caliber. Where are all the romantic leads? Where is our Brad Pitt? Majority of his fans are woman but he does gangster movies, scary movies. He doing an alien movie next. Does anyone see us longing for a romantic lead.
