Absolutely. At least through the primary season, it should be the best in years, on both sides.
OK.
Wow, you live in a different universe than I do. I see him interviewed all the time and, if anything, he’s an anti-Bush crusader.
Sorry, I can only go by what I see in print. Other than football, I don’t watch TV.
That’s hardly a new tactic. When former president Clinton answered accusations that he ignored Osama, what was the response from the right?
Here.
The backstory is that blogger Amanda Marcotte of Pandagon got hired by the John Edwards campaign the other day. Malkin’s obviously rummaged through Marcotte’s old Pandagon posts to find something that will portray Marcotte, and as a consequence the Edwards campaign, in a bad light.
But Malkin apparently doesn’t understand how this works. If you’re trying to make someone else look bad by reading their words, the way to do this is by either a normal or a mildly ironic delivery, and let the words themselves do most of the work: if they’re really that bad, they can carry the load.
By going apeshit in her reading of Marcotte’s old posts, Malkin…well, click through and judge for yourself.
Just to be sure someone didn’t use your login, are you the same person who complained about “putting a thermometer in a pot of lukewarm water and screaming that the pot is boiling”?
Hey, if you want to call yourself “a pot of lukewarm water,” who am I to blow against the wind?
I usually call myself an ugly bag of mostly water, but pot of lukewarm water will do.
O.K. I hadn’t heard he was recommending against funding the additional troops. Undoubtedly that is easier than if he actually had to cast such a vote.
I like the juxtaposition of these quotes from Edwards:
“I take full responsibility for what I did, I should be held accountable for that, but I do think it matters when you’re willing to be open and honest with voters about what you’ve done.”
“* went back to former Clinton administration officials who gave me sort of independent information about what they believed about what was happening with Saddam’s weapons programs. They were also wrong. And based on that, I made the wrong judgment…I will say [Sen. Obama] wasn’t burdened like a lot of us with the information that we were receiving [regarding Iraq] on the intelligence committee and as members of the United States Senate.”
Translated: It’s other people’s fault I gave Bush’s people a blank check to conduct an undeclared war. Others are to blame, but I take “full responsibility”.
Checked out the video. Such theater is not really my cup of tea, either, but I don’t see what point you’re trying to make with it. I do think the result is effective. She used Marcotte’s own words to show the type of person she is. That seems perfectly legitimate. And you characterizing Malkin as “going apeshit” brings your own judgement into question. She was having fun with it, giving a read with intenionally exaggerated passion. She was even laughing at the end of the video in the out takes. I never understood why Malkin is so despised by some on the left. Coulter I can see. Malkin? Don’t get it.
Coulter is pretty much in a category all by herself, but Maulkin isn’t liked probably because she’s basically a partisan hack who plays fast and lose with the facts and is a favorite guest on O’Reilly.
that was probably extreme, although I don’t particularly care for him. It was a poorly phrased question, murky in its intent (to give him the benefit of the doubt), but if Edwards had fallen for it, would have been Big News. Edwards side stepped. It’s the conservative media that are trying to make this bigger than it is. This is why I don’t watch pundits much–there is so much posturing and outright mudslinging etc, it’s more theater than politics. I like theater in the theater, not running the country or trying to.
Exactly what doe “RL troll” mean? Real Life? Republican Lite?
Sorry, it means “real life”. Russert strikes me as Republican Lite, but that doesn’t mean he can’t get a decent interview out of a Democrat or out of Rep, come to that. I just didn’t care for his questions/phrasing in the Edwards interview.
Russert is definitely an equal opportunity sweat maker. If you’ve ever said anything on the topic, no matter who you are, he will make you watch it and explain yourself.
You call that apeshit? I was expecting hair pulling and bodice ripping. Instead I get bad acting. Congrats. You’ve just committed the same sin that you are pitting the RNC for–making a mountain out of a molehill. Still, not bad with the mute on…
Why is the RNC commenting on the Democratic primaries anyway?
I really don’t think this is correct, and clearly Cheney didn’t think that Russert was a tough sell, according to documents revealed during the Libby trial.
The more mud that gets spread around in the primaries, the easier it is for the other party in the general election.
I will give him another try, but to me, he seems to go easy on the Reps (easier, anyway). I haven’t really watched him, so I’ll pay more attention now.
