Those Quick, Easy Degrees from TV Colleges

Every now and then, there are TV ads to earn your degree almost overnight, so to speak. Between the internet and video tapes, it is quite easy to take courses in your home, in theory. I was wondering if any SDopers have any experience here. Please tell me in what area your degree was in, and what success (if any) you have had finding employment, etc…

Thanks for sharing!

Not my own, but my mum’s cousin applied to one of those internet colleges for his degree. He’d gotten to a point in his job where a bachelor’s wasn’t enough and he needed a master’s to (either get promoted or keep his job, can’t remember) and that turned out to be good enough.

I’ve taken some courses via a partnership Georgia State has with some website and I love the format. The problem is the degree. So many of these ads come from non-accredited schools, so they’re not really worth doing. Some pretty good schools (Florida State comes to mind) actually have online degrees that are worth something, but remain fairly expensive.

I’ve heard University of Phoenix is pretty good, but know nothing about it.

UP is one of the more famous ones. My understanding is that as long as your degree comes from an accredited school, no one really cares how you got it.
