Thought for the Day

Far from being the basis of good society, the family, with its narrow privacy and tawdry secrets, is the source of all our discontents. (Edmund Leach)

A family’s like a loaded gun: you point it in the wrong direction, someone’s going to get killed.

(I heard this in a Belle & Sebastian song, but don’t know who originated it.)

I’m damn sure as hell not gonna be on any damn German TV doc about the Isle of Man. They can swivel.

Well, it’s certainly the source of my discontent. However, it’s also the source of most of my joys, so what can you do.

See my current GD thread.

I don’t “do” GD.

WORK IS THE CURSE OF THE DRINKING CLASSES…Oscar Wilde

Families: the children spend their lives being grateful that their parents had sex… but do their damdest to never contemplate the actual event.

Kevin: “You had sex!? THAT’S DISGUSTING EUGHHH!”

(Ok so it was probably worded differently. Any Harry Enfield or Kevin and Perry fans around?)
