Thoughts on the Kobayashi Maru

It’s much more noisy when you set the antimatter down on the transporter pad if it’s not in a containment vessel of some sort.

since they don’t even need a pad to transport stuff most of the time - why not just beam it from the container where it currently is instead of moving it in a container to a place to beam it out?

(not much of a pad needed when they beamed up 400 tons of whale and water)

Heck, within the container there has to be a magnetic field or force field or something that keeps the anti-matter from contacting the container. Just have that field shut down five seconds after the container is transported. Anti-matter grenades.

I thought you needed to count to three?

Make it five, lest you snuff it.

Hey, Ferengi weren’t Totally Useless… what about the Magnificent Ferengi? Quark grew on me, not unlike a wart…

I’m honestly confused about Antimatter beams… what about PET scans… aren’t positron emissions a little like an antimatter beam? what about instant annihilation? I’m not AT ALL a scientist… so please don’t harsh on me… just thinkin’ out loud…

In the Ferengi’s first appearance, I recall Data saying to Riker “Careful, Commander. They are stronger than they…” just as a Ferengi decked Riker. That was pretty much their one-and-only moment of glory.
Wow, TNG sucked on multiple levels, I can say in comfortable hindsight. Sure, they had their mid-series highlights, but man…

TNG was great. At least tied for second in episode batting average among Treks.

If you don’t get Trek, you’ll never like Trek, and vice versa. TNG was every bit, if not MORE FULFILLING, to it’s creator…

I’m not trying to be litigious…

if you hated TNG, how do you know about Riker? why did you visit this thread? If you’re a fan of TOS, i’d hope you’d have at least a modicum of support for Roddenberry’s other endeavors…

I don’t have to hate it to acknowledge its many, many problems.
Some of those problems being sucking on various, dare I say multiple levels.

You know, on the SNES version of "Star Trek Starfleet Academy" you could beat the Kobayashi Maru.

Thank you Blindboyard… i’ve never heard of that guy. Great Rhyming…

didn’t mean to harsh on you, Bryan Eckers. i got carried away. Apologies…

It’s okay, when I get around to writing my seventh TNG-era fanfic, I’ll include you as a character.

Where can i read the first six?

Huh, I wasn’t prepared for that… Give me a few minutes.

Well, I guess I could send the compilation as a .pdf e-mail attachment, albeit a ~2.7 meg one.

Looking back on them now… man, these are uneven. I’ll cheerfully admit that I’m by far a worse writer than any of the TNG or DS9 staffers, for what it’s worth.

That probably puts you right on par with most of the Voyager writers, then.

Five is RIGHT out.
