Thoughts on the suspension of this professor?

Then just say “no, he did not say the n-word”

If you feel the need to add “ But…” go ahead.

When you repeat the same accusation numerous times, sometimes without equivocation like here

…the fact that you sometimes included the word “likely” is not really adequate to imply that you’re open minded and entertaining multiple hypotheses.

In any event, I’m more interested in hearing some evidence for this theory that he was making some kind of edge joke than discussing your subjective probability that it’s true. All I see in that tape is an academic giving a serious lecture. Not a hint of anything else.

Maybe the students went after him because it got them extra credit in their critical race theory class.

In the very post I was responding to, and that I quoted, you said:

So, no, I’m not just fucking with you.

Lord almighty. Yes, in that one paragraph, where I was responding to someone asking me what I thought he’d said, I didn’t repeat any weasel words that I’d used in half a dozen previous posts. So when I use a weasel word in the very next paragraph, you decide to tell me I don’t mean it?

There’s some serious ill-intended reading of other folks’ words here, especially ironic from people insisting we don’t ascribe ill intent to the professor’s approach.

I doubt it.

When you start a post with the words “I think I’ve been really clear on my answer here,” and then proceed to summarize your position, I believe that it is completely reasonable to take what follows as a summary of your position. YMMV.

Good grief. Knock yourself out, then.

A part of the “Black MBA Candidates c/o 2022” letter:

Our mental health has been affected. It is an uneasy feeling allowing him to have the power over our grades. We would rather not take his course than to endure the emotional exhaustion of carrying on with an instructor that disregards cultural diversity and sensitivities and by extension creates an unwelcome environment for us Black students. His careless comment has impacted our ability to focus adequately on our studies.

Could the following be a likely result?

Quietly find some way to avoid hiring black applicants, who (he has been assured) suffer from this sort of mental and emotional condition that makes it hard for them to effectively work around the employer’s employees and customers.

Source: If Employers Believe That Hearing the Mandarin "Neige" (Meaning "That") "Affect[s]" Black Students' "Mental Health,"

They are just gonna say you used reason.com as a source. A known libertarian news site. So it doesn’t count.

And they will continue to refuse to answer whether or not the guy said the n-word or a Chinese filler word.

Might racist employers choose not to hire qualified black applicants because they’ve made racist assumptions about them?

Absolutely. In fact, that borders on tautology. I appreciate your “concern.”

Since you replied to me, I’ll answer. No, he didn’t. Did anyone, other than the students who missed the context, say he did?

Whoa. Cool powers. What will the stock market be on Friday? I could use some gains.

Besides the students, the dean. How is the students not bad enough. The dean.

Just say oops. Wrong battle. Then we will be good

Please cite that the dean said he said “nigga”. Thank you.

Little confused about the stock thing

You and your cites…let me guess…you wont like the cite where the dean…

Just google it. Come on man, why do keep trying to defend this.

Who needs facts and cites, amirite? See, I can do that too:

That professor has a long history of racist statements and is a member of the local KKK.

The preceding statement was false, but I could just put it out there without any backup, just like you’re doing here and in other threads. If you think debating, or even discussion, is aided by just saying things you wish were true with no backup, well, that’s not the kind of discussion I’m interested in. So, I’ll leave you to it.

Just so you’re not kept hanging, the stock market thing was a reference to your amazing powers of prediction in the post that I replied to. Not only can you read the minds of whoever “they” are, you can predict the future! Amazing.

And with that, good day, sir. I said, good day!
