Yeahbut
Who’s going to monitor this and make it hurt?
Hmm…
Let’s see how much of this might be overturned on appeal…
The forced meds are out. The bumper sticker might be out, and the year in jail might be out too, if the jury said probation.
Ooofda, those poor parents, what a nightmare for them. But…they got some misplaced grief or anger issues, some misplaced something or other if they’re seriously thinking “We feel the terms of his probation will make up for anything the jury had taken away from us.”
Honey, the jury didn’t take anything from you, the accident took your daughter away, or the driver who caused it, but the jury? How’s that misdirection working out for ya?
It’s just so much political grandstanding. Eh.
In the UK he’d be charged with ‘Causing death by dangerous driving’, and although he was not the driver of the killing vehicle, he’d be straight down to prison.
I’m wionderig about the anatabuse drug, if booze was a contributory factor he’d be looking at a couple of years and a minimum five year ban.
Driver of the vehicle that hit the other car would likley get four years, perhaps more if circumstances were bad, such as previous dirving offences, drink or drugs.
It’s also not the decision of the jury as to what the punishments should be, such as probation, the jury can only decide findings of guilt or otherwise.
