YakTrax didn’t help me as much as I hoped , I have really horrible balance even using a cane with a icepick isn’t enough when taking my dog out . I am not looking forward to the icy driveway at my condo ! If I fall I will be a bag of broken bones !
I am glad the OP got home OK . Why did I move back East when I was living in California :smack: !
Frozen blocks of snow, typically kicked up by groomer treads but they can come from a number of sources, that make skiing in hard snow conditions interesting.
Woke up on Sunday with sore lower back; stiff neck and arm; pain radiating from my knee.
Woke up today - same.
Went to GP. He asked how I was, then watched me limp down the hall after him, and said “You’re not walking the way you usually walk…”
After checking for stroke and heart issues (I’ve obviously slipped into the age range where those could be issues  ), he said, “Sore tissue injuries”, probably from the walk home and the number of times I almost slipped and fell. Strain of clenching the muscles to avoid a fall can cause soreness to come up a few days later.
So, prescription for NSAID and a chit for physio. Plus ice.
Oh well. Still better than a broken leg or wrist. Had an elevator conversation with a friend a few days after the rain, and she mentioned she had a friend who had a slip and fall that night, ending up with a broken leg.
It didn’t turn out so bad here. It was icy but with a layer of crackly snowy stuff so it wasn’t too slick. The driveway is sanded and our street was cindered so we’re OK. More snow tonight!
Today’s high reached 50F with little to no wind. By morning the actual temp will be 18F and the wind chill near or below 0 - with some kind of light precip in the picture as well. Welcome to Georgia!
