Three men freeze to death in a friend's backyard and aren't found for three days

Back in the day, a girlfriend’s brother gave us some weed that had been soaked in PCP or similar stuff (without telling us). He thought it was a funny prank. We smoked a joint and it was hideously intense. Hallucinations, time dilation, racing/ freaky thoughts.

It led to her totally cutting off ties with her brother. I, on the other hand, kind of enjoyed the experience. I’ve always been able to remember that I am experiencing something that will eventually come to an end.

Based on articles like this one, public toxicology tests often take 4-6 weeks.

And it sounds like the fifth person has come forward and spoken with authorities.

He had slept for nearly 48 hours after the game and only learned that the bodies were there when police visited the home for a welfare check.

I really hope the cops aren’t satisfied with such an absurd claim.

That was my thought. Even someone who’s coming down from a high wouldn’t sleep 48 hours.

I’m also puzzled as to why the cops aren’t investigating this as a possible homicide. What convinced them it couldn’t be homicide?

Also this:

Kansas City police have been emphatic that Willis is not suspected of any wrongdoing and the deaths are not being investigated as homicide.

Without a toxicology report, why would they assume anything?

No obvious signs of trauma. Occam’s Razor.

Exactly. The most plausible thing to me at the moment is that they all over indulged and passed out. One guy was inside and three were outside. They all passed out and the outside guys succumbed to the elements. Inside guy was in a stupor for a long time and then when he realized what happened he cleaned up the evidence of the drug use.

“The first guy to get cold and go inside is a wuss, and it aint going to be me!” Second guy: Me either! Third guy decides to go inside after the other two freeze to death, and doesn’t quite make it and dies on the porch.

NFL fans know exactly what I am talking about.

My SWAG is that they all took drugs in the house while watching the game. 3 of the 4 had a dosage with too much fentanyl and died outside. The 4th never made it outside and passed out. That would explain why he was still out if it when they came for him.

Accidental death is much more likely than foul play. If there is no evidence suggesting foul play, they’ve searched the yard, house, talked to both witnesses, and no leads come in, then I’m not sure what else they can do.

The renter’s story was suspicious, but if he was on a bender then it’s plausible. Presumably there was evidence of it around the house.

I assume the police think they know what happened and are waiting for the evidence to confirm it. If it was drugs related they might be trying to track down the source. If either of these things are true, they wouldn’t be sharing any details.

Well I suspect that a drug addict wakes up, eats some frozen waffles (still frozen) and takes more drugs. Lather, rinse and overdose.

The toxicology report takes longer for the 3 deceased than the time the police can legally hold the homeowner for suspicion.

Thanks for the information! What a bizarre case.

You are really hung up on the fentanyl stuff.

Fentanyl costs money. Nobody in thr drug biz dumps expensive Fentanyl into other products willy nilly.

Fentanyl costs something, but it’s cheap. That’s why there are so many problems with other drugs cut with fentanyl and accidentally too strong.

This is just the first hit i got googling today, but I’ve seen lots of references to the low price of fentanyl.

I was gonna say I saw a report on Fentanyl being cheap, relatively speaking.

And it takes very little to use to cut in something else.

I found this about the home-renter Jordan Willis:

Was the mysterious 5th man named Jesse?* :upside_down_face:

*Breaking Bad reference for those who don’t know.

Fentanyl is relatively inexpensive. The high density of the synthetic opioid allows small amounts to be added to other drugs to enhance their effect and it can be smuggled more easily. It had the added advantage of being highly addictive and which keeps users coming back for more. There have been many deaths from incorrectly measuring the amount of fentanyl added to other drugs, and the unreliable concentration in illicit fentanyl pills.
