Three Requests and Two Questions

But…

O.K. Clicing on `` USER CP’ allows one to log in by backspacing “Unregisered”, putting in screen name and putting in password

And you woul know this how?

If you hit the “post reply” link, then you’ll also get a reliable login. But this is probably not very relevant any more, with the popularity of the quick reply box.

Chronos -
You just don’t get it do you? Isaac Cashman is speaking from experience.

Want proof? Why don’t you try this- log out, then come back to this page and try the quick reply box method of logging in while posting. Then tell us again how reliable it is.

I’ll bet anything that instead of “Thank you for posting”, you get this:
" vBulletin Message
No thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster "

vb-man, read Chronos’ comment again. He said “post reply”, not “Submit Reply”. The post reply button opens the edit window for full reply functions. If you aren’t logged in, it expects you to log in first. That works.

However, as Chronos mentioned and your example states, most people use the “quick reply” window at the bottom of the thread page. This will not log you in. Chronos did not say that it will. He said,

Irishman - I read the thread correctly. That last line of yours says it all. Why say the quick reply box has solved anything when it leads to an error condition?

No no no, the quick reply has not solved everything. He didn’t say it did. He said people are using the quick reply box instead of opening the normal reply window. Thus they encounter the problem. If the open the full reply window, they don’t have the problem. But they don’t use that feature, they use the quick reply box.

But after rereading the comment, I can see how you reached that interpretation. It’s not the problem that isn’t relevant any more, it’s the use of the full reply window.
