Thump! What Was That?

Left the parking brake off in the car, and it rolled gently into the wall of the garage?

Every time we hear a thump in the night, it means the spray attachment on our showerhead has pulled its suction-cupped holder off the wall again. Never happens in the daytime, either!

Okay, here’s what happened: I opened the door and found a package of stuff I’d ordered from Amazon. Judging from the amount of noise it made when it hit the porch, it must have been hurled there, possibly by a catapult. I’ve never had anything delivered by anybody as late as this (10 p.m., remember) and it wasn’t any kind of special delivery, either.

Luckily, nothing in it was breakable.

Thanks for the guesses–some of them were really funny!

It was a ghosty, a gouly or a long-legged beasty?

ETA: Damn! How did I not see the answer?!

Mongolian Death Worm?

I’m guessing it was left at a neighbor’s by mistake, and the neighbor brought it over that late.

Does this mean we have to stop guessing?

I think it was a dead fish wrapped in a bullet proof vest.

This turns any day into a good one.

Nah, I think the UPS driver was waaaaay behind schedule and just trying to catch up so he could get done. So he started throwing all the packages he could lift with one hand.

I was almost right in my guess! Location, the fact that it was a delivery…I’m declaring myself the winner here!
