Tim Ferris' 4-Hour Body vs 8-Hour Diet

Tim Ferris has a brand going with “4-Hour” this and that, though he tries to tie the book content to the actual idea of 4 hours. He recommends eating this beans/lean meat/lentils/some veggies. What I really want to ask about is this idea that you should eat 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up, to really accelerate weight loss.

I had read some blogs that were keying off the main idea behind the 8-Hour Diet, and I was losing very noticeable weight by skipping breakfast, having ~300 cal soup for lunch, and stuffing myself with lettuce/peas/green beans/lean chicken salad for dinner. I’ve added a small chicken breast in the morning, but I haven’t kept close enough track of things to know if it’s making a difference. These two things seem contradictory, as many of these “Look! Wow!” diets seem to be.

Is there a medical/dietician consensus on either of these ideas? Does the early protein help? Does it matter when I eat? Other solid ideas? Thanks.

Eating protein upon waking is supposed to lower leptin levels, making it easier for you to eat fewer calories without being as hungry.

Skipping breakfast is trying to cut down on your calorie intake.

Eating fewer calories will make you lose weight, but some hormonal manipulation strategies will attempt to make eating less easier to stick to.

I personally go with intermittent fasting and/or a low carb meal setup most days to cut down on hunger and calories.
