For some reason, I lust after Tim Roth. Nobody plays a skinny pasty guy like he does. We watched Reservoir Dogs again a few nights ago, and I was mesmerized by him. Those scenes where he is practicing the “commode story” are just great. In the bonus features, there are cast interviews, and I watched his over and over. Of course, he’s good in almost everything he does - according to IMDB, he’s done quite a few movies that either had limited release or went straight to video.
Christmas wish - actor bookends, Tim Roth and Jude Law. Talk about two different (but both greatly talented) Brits!
Being a guy, I don’t lust after Tim Roth, but I do admire his work. I especially admire his role in Rob Roy as Archibald Cunningham, perhaps the most dastardly evil villain I’ve ever seen depicted on the big screen.
I have yet to see him phone in a performance. Even in cheesy movies like The Musketeer (which wasn’t half bad, for cheese) he managed to steal the show.
I actually make it a point to see everything I can with him in it, because he always gives a good performance.
Absolutely! I love Tim Roth and unlike Atreyu, I am lusting after him. He’s fantastic in everything I’ve seen in him and the only thing that could make me love him more would be to have him (finally) appear in a Harry Potter movie.
He’s been on my radar for quite a while - a really outstanding actor. I think he deserves at least a small lust for the fact that something is clearly going on behind those beady little eyes.
When I saw you mention Reservoir Dogs, that was the first scene that came to mind for me as well. I also always liked the scene where he looks in the mirror and gives his superstar cool psyche talk. And last, the sucking air hysteria, “I’m fucking dying” part seemed pretty authentic (never having been around a gunshot victim).
I also really liked him in Four Rooms. Not many of my friends enjoyed this movie, but I thought it was another great performance on his part.
Sorry, no lust on my part either. But find him to be one of the best actors around, so, is that enough?
Glad I get to be the first to mention Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, cuz it is one of my favorite movies.
His best role, IMO, was in Gridlock’d. He plays the fool to Tupac Shakur’s straight man - they are addicts who try to kick their habit, but are stymied by the red tape of beurocracy. Other movies he’s been in are better, but it’s definitely worth the rental if you haven’t seen it.
