I went through my IM contact lists and cleaned out some mighty old contacts, and now… Well, now it looks all empty again. And considering I have this nifty new GMail IM client and no contacts on there at all, I thought, what the hell…
So, if you want to take part, just give us your screen name(s) for whichever client you prefer.

Isn’t there a thing in our profiles where we can enter IM names if we’re interested in being contacted that way? I’m too lazy to check, but I know I see a little MSN icon in your post and I’ve seen AIM and ICQ icons in other posts.
Does the new Gmail IM client let you IM people who use other services? I’m curious enough about it that I’m willing to get a Gmail account just so I can download the IM client, but everyone I know uses AIM.
Wow, I’m looking for it and can’t find a Gmail IM client. Mind sharing where you found it? I really, really want it.

You can use the Google client previously linked to, but you can also use clients that support the Jabber protocol, like Gaim, which has the advantage of being able to connect to all other popular protocols (and some not-so-popular).

Question: when using GAIM can you make full use of things like VOIP etc? The reason I gave up Trillian after trying it out was because I couldn’t use Yahoo’s voice chat with it.
gaim doesn’t support VOIP, nor does it support direct file transfers.
