I think a suggestion could have been made to Kennesaw Mountain Landis that it would be far easier for the intrusive federal government to stay away from the monopoly that was major league baseball if that enterprise were to do away with the color barrier.

Or better yet, Lindbergh volunteers. The Germans at least admired him.
Send Henry Ford. No big loss to us. To the Nazis, Ford was sort of like how the modern French view Jerry Lewis.
Benjamin O. Davis, Sr. had already been serving as a colonel in the Regular Army since 1920. He served as brigadier general in World War II.
Sounds like something out of an episode of Deep Space 9 to me.
