As of today 9AM CST the hread has been neither restored nor the Warning removed as stated by tomndebb.
It is critical in any debate to maintain the flow of ideas between the debaters without interruptions of third parties to squelch the debate without grounds.
Is a 20 hour delay of the debate excessive? Does the delay suggest a certain amount of arbitrary censorship? Or am I just hyper suspicious and the logistics of reopening a thread just takes that long as compared to closing the thread which took only 45 minutes? In fairness should not reopening a thread be performed immediately upon the determination that no rules were broken by the poster as indicated by tomndebb?
I saw that, and just figured tomndebb had been hit by a meteor immediately upon clicking the submit button on that post.
It happens surprisingly often, even to the best mods; well, excepting Manhattan, that man never erred.
tomndebb temporarily removed the thread from public view, and later restored it. And the warning was been reversed. If you look at your profile under ‘Infractions’ you’ll see it says “0 / Reversed.”
I think tomndebb meant to leave that thread locked, but I leave it to him to make that decision since he handled the thread. When you were new here, focusonz, you were reminded a couple of times that this is not a blog. You’re expected to debate your positions, not just dump long screeds. (See also here and here).
I apologize. When I moved this thread back into public view, I did not notice that it was locked.
It is now open.
(And just a suggestion: an e-mail will reach me much faster than the off chance that I happen to recognize a thread in ATMB that does not even mention my username or “Great Debates” in the title.)
I think that a year or two ago, they switched to the infraction system used by vBulletin. So, don’t despair, you may yet have a black mark lurking in whatever system they used prior.
