If there is a South Park connection, then this is something we should all be thinking about. I don’t want to credit South Park for potentially putting innocent people in harms way, but for people to go to such extremes over a silly cartoon here in the States would be an eye-opener.

South Park didn’t put anyone in harm’s way, that’s what we should be thinking about…

They made a satirical cartoon, something that’s been happening in the civilized world for centuries without bloodshed or car bombs or jihad of any type.

Something to think about.

People going to extremes is sort of the definition of “Extremist”, wouldn’t you say?

Again, South Park is in no way the culprit here. That anybody would even suggest that just boggles the mind.

If this is the “eye-opener” that some people need, then so be it, but I’m not really all that comfortable having an extremist arm of a religious sect dictating what I can satirize.

Of course it now appears that even though he had only recently acquired US citizenship, and had also recently traveled to an area of Pakistan known to be a haven for extremist groups, he was just a random idiot.

So we got that going for us.

All we have to concentrate on now is not airing any other cartoons that might piss off the coordinated non-idiots.

If the guy was involved in some form of training overseas months ago, this has nothing to do with South Park. The most you could potentially say is that he chose Viacom because of the South Park connection but at this point I wouldn’t assume there’s any connection. It sounds like he was always religiously conservative and may have gone whole halal after his family’s house was foreclosed on last year.

Yet one fact being ignored in the American media’s sensationalist narrative about the failed bombing is that the man who was responsible for police finding the bomb was Muslim. The UK’s Times Online reports that Aliou Niasse, a Senagalese Muslim immigrant who works as a photograph vendor on Times Square, was the first to bring the smoking car to the police’s attention:
