This is, apparently, from October 2021, but Amazon just notified me based on my having purchased Tinactin a couple years ago.
That part … kinda’ cool.
https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/bayer-issues-voluntary-recall-specific-lotriminr-and-tinactinr-spray-products-due-presence-benzene
Bayer is voluntarily recalling all unexpired Lotrimin® AF and Tinactin® spray products with lot numbers beginning with TN, CV or NAA, distributed between September 2018 to September 2021, to the consumer level due to the presence of benzene in some samples of the products. Benzene is not an ingredient in any of Bayer Consumer Health products. It is important to note that Bayer’s decision to voluntarily recall these products is a precautionary measure and that the levels detected are not expected to cause adverse health consequences in consumers.
Benzene. Yeah. Athlete’s foot … leukemia.
Got it. I’ll err to the side of caution on this one.
Check your products if you have them.
Yep, I’ve got one. Thanks for the heads up. Glad I don’t use it much.
Wait, so they announced it back in 2021 and you’re just hearing about it now? Good on Amazon for telling you, but why didn’t they tell you two years ago since they knew who had purchased it from them during the impacted time frame?
Yeah. That part’s pretty unimpressive.
I wonder if they only recently implemented this functionality at all, meaning: maybe they didn’t have the programming necessary to stay up-to-date on safety recalls and marry them to a customer’s purchase history.
Y’know … maybe.
I think it is new functionality. I got a notice the other day about my Oculus Quest. The recall is 2 years old, and I bought the Quest almost 3 years ago.
Looks like a brand of eyedrops recalled due to Pseudomonas contamination was quick to disappear from Amazon.
Huh. I used to use both products for Tinea versicolor caused by Melasezzia furfur (Doctor’s visits are so educational). I eventually got rid of this and other skin fungus infections with much more powerful medicine
(My infections just laughed at clotrimazole, tinactin, selenium sulfide, ultraviolet light, and one other awful-smelling preparation that I suspect of being a placebo. But the internal medicine just wiped them out.)
