tiny work day pleasures

I’m afraid that to meet the “tiny” requirement, you’re gonna need to break that puppy up into periods, quarters or innings.

I put a small bit of Bailey’s in my coffee each morning. It’s waay too tiny and far too weak to actually feel but it is a nice indulgent way to start the day. I also come in long before anyone else and thus have a relaxing NPR commute and some “me” time to read the paper, fire off personal emails and enjoy a sourdough breakfast combo before we get eat up by the busy.

Do nuggets count?

Busting my butt all day, then realizing my desk is clean, my e-mail inbox is empty of unread e-mails, and the Opinion Journal from WSJ pops in my e-mail. Then I can take a break, munch on a clementine, and read something non-work-related.

I have an origami-a-day calender. I make them while I’m on the phone with consumers.

I also enjoy when someone w/ a sexy accent calls in. I’d like to personally give my thanks to the states of Louisiana, Wyoming, Oregon, Florida, California, Georgia and Colorado for your occasionally lovely man-accents. And all of Canada. Also Minnesota, b/c sometime your accents make me laugh. (No offense; they’re just so cute!)

And I drink iced white tea all day long. I enjoy every sip of it.

Probably the best thing though is that I work with my best friend and we have lunch together every day. Everyone should be so lucky.

I was starting to get really frustrated at the crappy FM reception I was getting at my desk, when I got an e-mail from my favorite radio station on Monday, informing me that they finally had live streaming audio on the web. Woot! I just could not get through a workday without my music!

And the SDMB.

You just took a nugget?

I love finding stuff that nobody else can find or finding stuff that should take me hours to locate but that I locate in about 30 seconds. I love spotting my boss looking for some kid’s file like a crazy woman, telling her to step aside and reaching in and pulling the right file out and saying, “Oh, my! BossLady! It was right here!” and I love the magical archive file which shoots files into my hand with only the power of my mind to guide it.

Dexterous sphincter, man. Dexterous sphincter.

Oh, yeah. The coolest thing ever is when someone has a meeting catered, and there are leftovers…I work on a floor full of extremely well-paid technowhizzes, and the prospect of a free leftover muffin or bag o’ chips sends us all into a feeding frenzy.

Mmmm, I just went to the candy machine and not only did they have Mounds (I wanted coconut and chocolate, but I didn’t feel like a nut) but it is Dark Chocolate Mounds.
