I’m going on a business trip to New York and will need to drive my boss cross town in midtown during rush hour. Public transportation is out of the question. (My boss isn’t the mingle-with-the-masses-type.) Does anyone have any tips for how to avoid the usual traffic?
Walk. Seriously.
Walking would be the fastest. Car service would be the most comfortable.
There’s no good way to go crosstown in midtown Manhattan, other than walking.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
Seriously, there’s no trick, or secret streets. Midtown is going to be crazy regardless. If you can’t take a bus, then I’d assume you won’t be walking either. Just take a car service and be prepared to wait.
Even the mayor takes the subway to work (After he takes a car service to the subway station  )
PS, do you personally have to drive? Or just arrange for transportation?
See if “the Donald” will loan you his helicopter?
Do they rent bikes in Manhattan yet? If your boss is into fitness that may be an option. I see lot’s of Europeans doing that. They rent them from a locked rack and return them to another rack in another part of the city.
The mayor is a frickin billionaire. He doesn’t need a car service. He’s got a fleet of awesome black window-tinted SUVs driven by his private bodyguards. (To the subway station. Heheh.)
