The dashboard tire pressure light will not turn off. I have replaced all 4 tires and it will still not turn off. What I know so far is that my 2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition uses tire sensors on the valve stem that emit a radio signal to a receiver somewhere in the center of the car when a tire is too low in air pressure (in my case, nitrogen) or when a sensor breaks. A local Toyota dealership has quoted me a $100 just to discover what tire sensor is having an issue.
Have you been able to successfully determine what tire sensor needs replacing?
Not having a Toyota I might be off base here, but on my car the tire pressure monitoring system has to be calibrated. This involves holding a button until the warning light turns yellow and then drive the car until it goes out. Basically this tells the system that the current pressure is “correct”. It has to be re-calibrated whenever a tire is replaced. The procedure is in the owner’s manual.
But again, there are several different types of monitoring systems around and yours may not need calibration. Just thought I’d throw it out there.
