Tis the Season (Green Onions)

One of my favorite Christmas “songs” is Christmas Dragnet (enjoy!). One of the running gags is the bit about the relish tray, with the scallions that most folks call green onions (but they’re really scallions).

Okay, so they’re scallions. Exactly what vegetable are these pedants referring to when they DO identify something as a green onion? Or is it their position that green onions aren’t really a thing?

Green onions is just a different name for scallions. They are the same thing. They are also known as spring onions.

Green Onions is definitely a thing. And its cooking…

@peccavi, you beat me to it.

But seriously, many items have different names by different people. Get over it. A rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet. Thank you Shakespeare.
