More like 3DD, amirite?
It was a lousy enough movie in two dimensions, thanks.
On the third hand, 3D is enough of a leap beyond the medium of 2D that I’d see Titanic 3-D if I got free tickets. It wasn’t that horrible a movie. Just not worth paying money for, and Cameron probably will not actively hurt my eyes with the 3D like Thor did. (All the rest of the 3D movies I’ve seen in the past few years had excellent 3D [or at least good enough that it added to the movie, as in Alice].)
::::Hijack::: I use the same criteria to determine if I can say that I “like” a band: if I would see them if they were playing close to me and the tickets were free. By that criteria, I don’t like the Rolling Stones unless I’m getting drunk with friends!
Yep. My grandma is a Titanic fan, and she’s never seen a 3D movie so I figured this would be a good opportunity.
for the ship (and ok kate’s nude scene) MAYBE.
but to have to sit through all the rest just to get to that stuff? HELL NO.
Am I the only one on this board who saw Cameron’s 2004 3-D film of Titanic exploration? It had Bill Paxton, Cameron, and researchers going down to the wreck in the MIR subs.
They surfaced from one of the dives on 9/11 and found out about the attack when they got back on the ship. It was filmed in 3-D with explorer robot craft and computer animation, and I thought it was great.
The DVD is not in 3-D, but it’s still good.
David
Only if Celine Dion goes down with the ship.
Voted maybe, but it’s more like a probably. I enjoy being emmersed in 3D, and liked the movie well enough. I haven’t seen it since its original run, so yeah, good chance I’ll go!
Nope. Not interested in the slightest.
I’m a big fan of 3D, but not a big fan of 3D conversions. James Cameron seems to understand 3D better than most, though, so this conversion might look better than I expect. I’m torn.
I’ve never seen the 2D version. Kinda like Suburban Plankton, I got really tired of the hype when it was first released, and made it a point to not watch it. Ex-wife was a huge fan and bought it on widescreen VHS when it was released, and she later bought the laserdisc, which remained in my collection when she left, and I’ve yet to put it in the player. I do think I’m far enough removed from the stupid hype to be able to watch it and enjoy it on its own merits, and think the spectacle of a theatrical showing would probably be better than trying to watch the LD.
It’s a great looking movie that still holds up well, and I will likely see it in 3D.
Have you seen the trailer? Even the best shots (assuming they picked the best shots for the trailer) have that Viewmaster look. Bleh.
No, I haven’t. For some reason, the only 3D trailers that play when I go to the theater are for kids’ movies. I’m not surprised to hear that the conversion has that cut-out look, but I am disappointed. Maybe with luck the theatrical rerelease will include 2D showings, then…
Nope, non, no, nyeit,nein…etc
Well, crap. I was going to recommend finding the 3D version of the trailer on YouTube, like I’ve done with a few other videos. But it seems there isn’t one for Titanic.
Of course, you have to be able to do those magic eye things and cross your eyes to make them 3D. But I think it gives you a good idea. (Well, you can also enable red-green analglyph mode but who wants to do that? And how many people actually own shutter glasses?)
And, no, I won’t go see it, but I’m not a big fan of watching any movies in theaters. The sound is cool, but I don’t like large screens.
Are there music albums you listen to over and over? Or once you hear it, you have no interest in revisiting it again? You may not think it’s analogous, but for movie-lovers, it completely is.
I have to say, I was impressed with the Titanic 3D trailer (which I saw when going to see the magnificent Pina), especially compared to the SW Ep.1 trailer that was coupled with it. But not nearly impressed enough to want to sit through that movie again, let alone have to pay an extra premium for the effort.
I wasn’t planning to, but after “Rose’s 3D rack” was posted above I’m having second thoughts…
I’ve never seen the movie and I have no desire to see it in any D.
I wonder if a re-release of a popular movie has ever lost money.
Interesting, never thought to look for 3D trailers on YouTube. I can’t do magic eye stuff, but my 3D TV (LG using Real3D-esque polarization) can handle side-by-side 3D just fine. Neat, a new source for… stuff.
And I own a few different shutter glasses set-ups.
