Titanic tourist submarine missing 6-19-2023 (Debris field found, passengers presumed dead. 06-22-23)

Or the guy they bought it from, cash in hand without documents told them “yeah, this is the same stuff I sell to Boeing”

“We need to surface, NOW!”

“Right. Oh, shit, Windows just started an update!”

“Left, right, left, right, up, down, up, down, square, square, circle, triangle … STAT!”

Yes of course, but what is so interesting is to watch everyone try to distance themselves from Cap’n Crunch.

But in the end, it came down to the plain fact that he spread himself too thin.

Yeah, my sister read me this earlier this morning. I wonder if he didn’t want to be completely honest with his mom (with the potential of being offensive to his dad), but he was able to share his fears with his aunt.

“The fatally imploded sub was made from the same materials that Boeing builds their planes with.”

Yeah, I can imagine certain parties wanting to quash that sort of internet meme faster than you would stomp on a particularly ugly scurrying bug! :grinning:

Well, in the end, it really brought them closer together.

Okay. This is funny!

And, unless the heirs are as passionate about STEM education, it may end up crushing the hopes of many young Pakistanis.

Two Titan submersible passengers were prominent science philanthropists in Pakistan (nature.com)

The Dawood family’s foundation established the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi; the Karachi School of Business and Leadership; the MagnifiScience Centre, Pakistan’s first contemporary science museum also in Karachi. Dawood public school provides high quality science education for girls, Najam says.

See what I did there? Am I doing it right?

Not submersible-related, but there’s another dead billionaire.

Well, it’s a start.

Better to spin it: “Boeing’s cutting-edge materials have been attributed to zero fatalities in the air or on the ground!”

I wish I could take credit for it. Or maybe not. LOL. It’s bad.

Given the stories of Rush flying around the country trying to talk individuals into booking passage it makes it appear the CEO was pressed for money.

Moderating:

It’s inappropriate to wish death on people on the SDMB

From the rules:

It’s even more inappropriate in a breaking news thread.

Maybe the Titan was attacked by a whale! Or a swordfish. I mean, it could happen.

On July 6 1967, the Alvin deep research submersible was attacked by a swordfish. The swordfish became trapped, Alvin was forced to make an emergency return to the surface. The attack had taken place 2,000 feet under water. The swordfish was cooked for dinner.

Moral of the story: Do not f*** with humans, for they are the apex predators everywhere on this rock. Even deep underwater.

A more generous interpretation is what we’ve all done: realized what a noise was after a while. As in, there was an unidentified sound on the recordings, and afterward folks said “Oh, that must have been…”

ETA: Hoping this doesn’t qualify as “speculation”, though I’d certainly understand if it does and if so, mods please delete!
