My apologies - if I didn’t, they were lost in the vast bulk of spam I get. My E-mail address gets published on some web pages from time to time, and as a result I get about 200 spams a day. Would you mind re-sending them, if it’s still relevant? I’ll keep an eye out for them.
Well, that, in and of itself, isn’t that big a deal. Lots of 23-year-olds don’t know what they’re going to do with their lives. And perhaps the ‘burned out’ feeling you have is because you feel trapped in an unrewarding life and you see no way out.
But believe me, as young as you are, two or three rewarding careers could lie ahead of you yet…or maybe just one good one would be enough. But the fact is that you have a tremendous number of opportunities and options ahead of you, and it is waaayyy too soon to be feeling trapped.
Is there anything apart from poker that you really like to do? Most of the people I’ve known in life who were happy in their careers were people who found a way to make a living doing something they love. If you can’t think of anything you love to do enough to try to pursue it as a career, then maybe you just need enough time to discover what that interest would be. It could be something you’re not even aware of at this point.
But the thing is, at the age of 23 you’re just barely in the game anyway. There’s lots of time ahead to try to determine where you want to go and what you want to get out of life. You’ve already demonstrated that you have many of the qualities necessary for success or you wouldn’t have been as successful as you’ve been in playing poker. Maybe you’re just expecting too much too soon and you just need to chill for awhile (in a less stressful and probably lower-paying line of work) until you know where you want to go.
Thanks for sharing Senor, I’ve been lurking in some of your poker posts after you scored big on that online tournament.
Could somebody please explain on-line poker to me? I don’t get it. How can you possibly play poker when you can’t look your opponents in the eyes, or watch their body language?
This may be a dumb question, but I only play recreationally, and the only card game I’ve managed to make money at consistantly is cribbage.
The amount of information gained by observing a persons body is miniscule compared to the amount of information you receive from their betting patterns.
“The Tell” is hyped in movies and some books.
If you want to try online poker for play money, go to…
http://www.partypoker.com/index10.html
…and download and install the requisite software.
Before you do anything though, have a unique User-name ready (up to 13 letters, I think) and that’ll be the name that appears when you sit at a virtual table. Once you’re there…
In the left window, scroll down and click on Play Money, to open up those games then select a brand of poker you’re comfortable with. Select a table with an open seat, and when you get there, click on an open seat, you’ll then be offered the $ amt (again, PLAY MONEY) you want to start with and voila, you’re in.
Try the online game out. You can play No Limit, Pot Limit and various other limit games for Play Money. If you blow your wad, just ask for more.
Have a good time.
