I’m really new to TSD message boards and I must admit that I have found plenty of provocative threads here. I’m really sorry that I wasn’t involved years ago as I’m not positive if I will cough up the money to subscribe.
I was wondering…how many of you are paid-up subscribers?
How many of you are unsure if you will subscribe?
I visit and contribute to other message boards that discuss some similar topics, like the beliefnet site, and posting messages at those places is absolutely free.
About 4200 is the last count I remember seeing.
If you get everything you want from other sites, then subscribing probably isn’t for you. Hang out for a while and see how you like it, you might change your mind. It’s a lot of fun sometimes.
Everyone with “Charter Member” or “Moderator” or “Administrator” under his or her name is paid up. Everyone with “Guest” under his or her name is in the same boat as you.
However, most members’ subscriptions are coming up for renewal in a month or so, so you’re still likely to get some good responses.
Myself, I enjoy the place and am not averse to contributing slightly more than 2 cents per day for continued posting access and to help with general upkeep.

This does not seem to be much of a Great Debate (Resolved: Good idea to become a paying member. Affirmative 100%), but it does seem to be sort of a poll and it definitely seeks opinions.
I think it will feel more comfortable over in IMHO.

I think this is the best ‘wide-interest’ board available. We discuss all sorts of things and we avoid most of the juvenile crap that permeates the 'net.
It’s well worth my cash. I’ll not be leaving until I’m putting the chairs up on the tables and polishing the bar.
