To Dishonest "Christians"

My point, as the others so clearly saw, was that Liberals and atheists seem to be more kind, understanding and forgiving.

Now this is just stupid. Atheists don’t select what Jesus’ teaching they follow - they’re ATHEISTS, you see! They ( not all, obviously ) do as they think is right and good. No hypocrisy there, check out the actual meaning.
In fact many atheists are better than some “Christians” who follow Jesus’ teaching only because they are told to do so. It’s really not in their hearts, they just do it to get to heaven. That is, their motives are totally selfish. I’ve met those people.

BTW I’m not an atheist, just an agnostic and widely know as a gentleman

Do you really want to go there? Really???
In light of the past few decades of news…

Matthew 7:21-33 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Matthew 23:27-28″Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

Romans 10:3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

Matthew 24:51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Romans 2:14-15 Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.

John 4:20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Luke 12:2 Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.

Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Isaiah 1:11-17 “The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the LORD. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts?
Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!
Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong.
Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

1 John 4:20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

Mark 7:8 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

Luke 20:46-47 “Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.** They devour widows’ houses** and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”

Romans 2:1-5 1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Timothy 3:1-5 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

You’ve got I John 4:20 listed twice, but it is one of my favorite verses.

And not just because I think Christians need to see it, but for my own misanthropic tendencies.

And yes, I judge people who call themselves “Christian” by these verses. If you preach hate and intolerance, you’re not a Christian. God will spit you out of his mouth. Because the bible, as shown here, is pretty damned clear on who Christians actually are, and who they are not.

They will not be forgiven - just because they had the gall to say so, won’t cut it.

No where does it say “Blessed are the wealthy”, no where does it say “Fuck the starving and the poor”, no where does it say “Fuck the war refugees”, no where is there anything even close to a “prosperity gospel” or any Calvinistic “Fuck you we are already chosen”… or any of the other foul diseased vomit they spew.

This video by Kurzgesagt talks about Cesare Emiliani’s advocacy of the Holocene Calendar. It pushes the year 1 back 10,000 years (making this the year 12018) thus getting rid of that bump where you have to start counting backwards, no matter whether it’s BC or BCE, “Christian” or “Common.”

The video mentions two reasons for picking 10,000. First it’s obviously easy to convert dates in previously written documents (after CE, anyway) and second, It’s abut the time Göbekli Tepe was built in Anatolia, the earliest evidence that humans had built anything, the earliest evidence that we started changing our world.

About that selective stuff. Let’s call it cherry picking.

I wonder how much of the Bible Arcite and all the others actually follow. Faithfully and to the letter - before they start with the excuses and Old vs New vs Jesus gave us a new contract.

We can start with Leviticus.

We can end with the “give up all your stuff and follow me”

For the record, as an atheist, I don’t think it’s fair to expect christians to follow their own religion in the sense of adhering to every bit of their scripture. This is because their scripture is a completely incoherent mess of gobbledygook that can be used to support anything. So no, I don’t require christians to follow their scripture, because that would mean that there would be no christians at all, because everyone would be disqualified by something.

So, if one doesn’t disqualify all christians, I feel you can’t disqualify any self-identifying christians - not without employing some other, better, non-ambiguous method of identifying them than that messed-up book, anyway.

Heck, it’s kind of arbitrary to even accept self-identification as being meaningful, but the alternative would be to risk myself being classified as a christian, and that would be intolerable.

Right now I guess the problem / obvious exchange is that Abortion and racial issues are apparently so important that they require sacrificing every other teaching of Jesus and the bible.

Pedophile running for congress? He’s a Good christian man who will oppose abortion and put God in our schools.

Living embodiment of the 7 deadly sins who doesn’t even bother to claim he’s a christian except in the most obviously pandering way possible - and ONLY then? He’s a good Christian man who will oppose abortion and put our people on the supreme court to make abortion illegal.

You know, I get the idea that abortion is murder and something that needs to be opposed on moral grounds, even if I don’t always agree with it. But how did you people arrive at this hill to die on and sacrifice all other godly virtues?

Well then. They shouldn’t demand anyone else adhere, if they can’t do it. The ones making all the noise and glomming onto the political power are fakes anyway.

Like, they use Leviticus to justify fighting gays… but they will eat the hell outta some ham and bacon and lobster.

Leviticus also calls for killing adulterers. Ain’t happening.

It was actually closer to the former. I can’t remember which body part, but he claimed he saw it grow back to normal.

That said, I myself know how fragile memory can be (e.g. remembering Bugs Bunny at Disneyland or that an attacker had a beard), and how things can grow in the telling, even quite quickly. Someone “thought they saw something” to someone else excitedly yelling “they definitely saw something” to someone remembering that “I saw something.” Or how you can see something on TV and conflate it with a similar incident. Even prominent, strong memories can be changed. And then there are the charlatans.

I do believe he believes what he saw. But that is not sufficient proof for me. My experiences with any sort of “miracle” is that they tend to have a scientific explanation after the fact. For some, that’s reason enough to deny the existence of miracles. I am not so sure–I have always thought God works within his own rules. The supernatural would otherwise just become natural.

Even with the miracle I used to depend on–that I was dead for 45 minutes as a young kid after a high fever seizure–I see a physical cause. I was placed in an ice bath, for one thing. And children’s brains are malleable, so my not being a human vegetable could be my brain rewiring around the damage.

Anyways, back to trashing the CINOs. I used to get mad at that sort of thing, but no longer due since Trump was elected with 80% support from a people I thought were good if somewhat misguided.

Liberal is a religion?

Yes, just like Atheism.

Careful, I said that a few years ago on this board and people got rather upset.

All right, to quote an atheist ( seen in a video in YouTube ): Atheism is a religion in the same way as “off” is a TV channel.

The OP is not a atheist but a anti-christian. Wonder if he would accept the believe held by some that Buddha achieved enlightenment?

Either way the OP is very opinionated and narrow minded, I would say perhaps just a ‘fucking moron’ - the term he used to describe others he disagrees with. Those who normally accuse others are the ones guilty of that exact offense, so I’m leaning towards that, especially with that opening statement.

Thank you for that religious response.

How “Christian” of you.

Well, kanicbird isn’t exactly a (small-o) orthodox Christian, anyway, unless I’m mixing him up with another poster. He has some VERY interesting deviations from standard Christian doctrine in his Christianity.

All these clowns somehow think no one else has ever read and studied (much less understood) the Bible. We know how to detect bullshit and hypocrisy.

I especially liked the line about not expecting them to adhere to the teachings and “requirements” they demand everyone ELSE to adhere to.

Yeah yeah new covenant (but just for them), already saved by faith (but only them), auto-forgiveness (but only for them), death to “rule breakers” (but not them), no picking and choosing what to follow (except for them) on and on and on and on.

What the fuck. Total bullshit.

Given that the OP listed “God is a being who exists somewhere” as one of his “no sane person - barely even any insane people - could honestly believe” statements, I’d say that there are very, very, very few religions that would escape the OP’s scorn. Saying that he’s specifically “anti-christian” is just persecution complex speaking; the dude has a way bigger spread on his criticism musket than that.

I would agree that the OP’s position isn’t factually sound (because you demonstrably don’t have to be insane to believe stupid things, and thus it doesn’t follow that religious people are faking it), but putting it the way you did just makes you sound like a douche.
